My father has dementia and needed care beyond what we were able to provide. Brookdale has the Clare Bridge memory care unit, which was a perfect fit for our needs. It provides 24 hour care in a closed wing of the facility, with individual rooms for residents, dining area, common room, and activities. My father is able to be more independent and move freely around the unit, choosing what he wants to do, within this safe space. Importantly, it looks and feels like a hotel or apartment complex rather than a hospital.... Read more

We chose Brookdale Zanesville because of the overall appearance. The staff is thoughtful and willing to go out of their way to help when needed. My dad is happy with our choice and has made some new friendships.

It started off great but no support once the placement is completed. Not very happy overall with them.

Response from Brookdale Zanesville
April 9, 2024We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are sorry to hear we are not meeting all of your expectations. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss with you further and encourage you to reach out to our management team.
We picked Brookdale in Ohio because I had a good experience with the Brookdale in Washington state. Unfortunately, our experience did not turn out well and we had to move our mom less than two months later. Their staff resident ratios did not seem appropriate for memory care. Our family will be sending a letter to Brookdale headquarters outlining our concerns.

The number of staff to patients is better than most places. Staff are friendly and do a good job In order to improve the activities, I think that they could have someone come in and sing/ perform songs ? Have a pet come in to visit them regularly. They do have a church service every week but it is in the main area not the memory care unit. That's probably ok they would probably only enjoy the music portion.

I toured this community and it was a very nice place! Cleanliness and friendliness were great. It was just a bit out of our price range.
I feel like I can't wait until the next meal. The food is delicious and always a good variety.

This has been my home for a few years. The staff are so kind, when my wife passed, and the team here was nice to me. My family and Brookdale gave me a reason to live at age 93. [name removed] our boss is good to all of our families and residents. I love Brookdale Zanesville.

The community is very friendly and helpful towards the residents and families. The atmosphere is more home like than a nursing home. The staff are great about getting back to me about answers to my questions or concerns. Some of the activities available include church, music, crafts, and more for the residents to choose from. My loved one seems to be happy with the meals. There are a couple of choices per meal for the residents to choose from. My loved one really enjoys the desserts offered. Housekeeping, laundry, care, the apartment, utilities, and changing of linens are included in the monthly fee. I do provide snacks that my loved one enjoys for them to snack on.

Overall this is good place for a loved one to be cared for. Any time I have any problems they are usually fixed in a timely manner. I do feel communication needs to be improved but other than that they take good care of my loved one and he likes the employees and care he receives.

I've been generally happy with Brookdale. The staff is caring, and I feel like my mom is safe there. They've been very diligent about covid protocols and are thoughtful about how the quarantines that they put in place. The director makes herself available to the families and she's very responsive. Like many places in the area, they've had staffing issues which have caused some problems with resident care and communications, but the staff that is there works hard to try to overcome that. The memory care area does not have enough staff to provide adquate engagement for the residents.

The Executive Director manages a great community! The staff goes above and beyond as they really care about the residents. There are plenty of activities that are attractive to a wide range of interests. They meet with the residents to get their input. The most impressive was how they have been handling COVID protocols. They did a great job of balancing the protection of the residents and family visits during the various periods of the pandemic. I live out of state and am comforted by the quality of the community and staff. My mom is really happy here.

I would recommend Brookdale Zanesville; however, it is with caution due to the community being private pay and them not accepting Medicare. The community is having some staffing issues. There are not a lot of activities going on due to the pandemic My loved one likes the food in general and the community has a new chef coming starting March 1st.
