Staff were very nice. Meals were good. Activities seemed to decrease the longer she was there. There was always a discussion every month about the cost. The communication was poor. Care costs were added without our knowledge. They insisted that we buy and bring our own toilet paper. The financial aspect was very stressful, not always accurately charged. We would get letters from the corporate office saying bill was past due!when it had been paid. Having discussions, questions about the billing every month with the financial person and head person. Every month a different amount. Frequent letters from head office that payment was overdue. The actual staff caring for patients was great.... Read more

Anything to improve what is graded less would be solved by more people being available to work.

My dad passed away on [date removed]. At first it was nice, but during the time that he was at Brookdale, the amount of staff turn over was troubling. They could have done a better job communication amongst the staff and listening to the families.

Response from Brookdale Stanwood
August 14, 2024We're so sorry for your loss and hope as time goes on things get a little easier for you and your family. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. By giving us your feedback, you are helping us to understand what we do well and what we could focus on improving. Really enjoy working with the staff. We have a family member in Assisted Living but are struggling with what to do next as she shows signs of mid-stage dementia. Time to move her or too soon? Staff are so patient with her and us ... Very professional and knowledgable.

The staff has been great, very friendly and responsive to questions and requests. I said 4 only because of the cost, but even their mom received a nice discount. Yes, we for sure would recommend them to others! They were great during our initial visit and they still are doing great!

The staff was very warm and caring with Mom. They truly care about their residents and were very friendly with the family. FYI, we moved Mom to an adult elder care home [date removed]. She is doing better in a smaller environment.

So far we have been really pleased with our experience with Brookdale Stanwood. The staff members are very knowledgeable and friendly and if we have any questions or concerns we bring it to their attention and it is answered promptly. Our loved one has been quite pleased with how she has been treated and seems to really be enjoying the meals and the laundry service.
In working with a family in crisis, the Stanwood team was able to help them quickly with and with loving care and compassion. Between the sales manager, and the nurse that went to assess this resident, to the rest of the team, making sure that her new home was ready, I couldn’t have asked for more love and care to be shown to them in a time where their stress level was beyond high. Thank you from the bottom of my heart-I know they are in great hands.

The people are very nice here. The financial department is the only concerns, as it isn't set up very well. The billing isn't as accurate as it could be for us. There are three meals a day served to the residents and there are choices for the residents to choose from. There are activities such as music and happy hour for the residents that would like to participate in them.

Response from Brookdale Stanwood
October 7, 2022Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
Like everybody, they're short-staffed right now. But the staff they do have are friendly, helpful, caring, and kind. They bend over backwards to take care of my mom. The food is very good. They're doing the best they can with activities with the staff they have. It's expensive, but I looked at a number of other places and the cost is about the same. Overall we're very happy we chose Brookdale. There's easy access for us to visit. They have what they call the "scenic drive" once a week, and Mom has surprising taken advantage of that. I'm just very pleased with the experience.

I thought Brookdale Stanwood was really nice. We met a lot of staff on the tour, and they were all very friendly. It was clean. They had plenty of activities going on there. What amazed me is they knew the people who lived there by name. The only downside for us was the location was not as convenient.
They've been right on. One of their biggest pluses is they do a nice job of counseling the people coming in. So it gives theme some sense of where they're going to go and why. The staff have been great. My mom likes the food a lot, and says it's good. She's busy with activities and can pick what she wants to participate in or not. The cost is right there in the mid range. It's a teeny bit expensive, but the quality is very good. They also offer a big company discount if you have a relative who works at a qualifying big company, and that's a considerable amount off per month.

We chose Brookdale because it is a lovely facility, we liked it very much. The apartment sizes are great, but the closet space could be bigger. My loved one enjoys the food that they serve very much. I would recommend them to others who are looking.

We chose Brookdale Stanwood because of the positive reviews I saw and the close proximity to where I live. She has one of the bigger apartments, the 2 bedroom and it is about 850 square feet. She is right on the end so she has more natural sunlight that comes into her place and it is close to the parking lot so if I need to take her someplace it is not a far walk. They do have other sizes as well to choose from. She loves the food here, they are chef prepared meals. I did notice that if you need something taken care of for example a light bulb being changed, it does take a long time for them to come take care of those things and I did have an issue with one of the maintenance staff members. All in all, my mom seems to be very happy here.

The food is not good, and it's so salty I can't eat a lot of it. If you have any dietary needs it's not good. We've been here a short time and already moved rooms because we were ready to give notice and they were trying to accommodate us. But the new apartment has no screens on the windows, no towel bars in the bathroom, and one of the shower doors is broken. Cleanliness could be better. The community washer and dryer was just filthy and backed up. The machine where you put the bleach in was green. So just really check it out and don't take their word for it. If you can get a resident alone, ask them what they think. I've been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because they're short-staffed. Everyone's friendly and smiles and talks like they're your best friend. Most of the residents we've come into contact with have been nice and friendly and eager to get acquainted.

When we were able to move our loved one in and see the community it was very clean and well kept. Our loved one seems to be very happy there which is important and she seems to be enjoying the meals. They are doing some activities on a limited bases with limited amount of residents participating. We do know our love done as taken up arts and crafts and chair volleyball. They also had a tour bus going on for a little bit.

My mother was a resident at Brookdale in Stanwood, WA for 9 years until Thanksgiving day of 2019. She had nothing but the most caring , loving care by staff and administration. She was treated like family for which we were greatful. She loved living there and felt like all were part of her family. We are so grateful to staff for all the loving care she received during the last 9 years of her life.
