Brookdale St. Augustine

The ladies working in Memory care are amazing. The facility is close to my home. It feels very comfortable. My mom liked it.

My father was particular about wanting his bedroom furniture. Brookdale was the only place that added the correct measurements. I would recommend other families to view all the options first. Especially with Brookdale having such a small food budget.St. Augustines residents are used to the cold meals.

Brookdale is a wonderful place to live. The staff is very helpful and cheerful. The food is delicious and plentiful. There are activities but no pressure to participate.

Brookdale St Augustine is a place where you feel at home. Everyone treats you like your family and there’s always something fun to do. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place for mom or dad!

I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and still currently service Volusia, Flagler and St Johns County. Brookdale St. Augustine is a beautiful community with amazing staff. I highly recommend Brookdale St. Augustine.

It was a all around good experience. The tour experience, was good. They had a room available for a trial period. That was good. We didn't go that route. I would tell a friend, to put their loved one there.

We initially chose Brookdale St. Augustine over others we saw because of the size of the room my loved one would be able to get and the 24 hour nursing care on staff. I would tell others that they do not give scheduled showers. My loved one is supposed to get 3 a week and he only gets 2 usually. I also think the activities should include more entertainment.

I have a lot of concerns with the lack of care that my loved one isn't receiving. However, I haven't explored any alternatives due to my loved one has been able to make friends. My loved one has settled in nicely with her in the community; however, the community is understaffed and this is a concern for us. The staff communication can be frustrating with the family, as the family doesn't feel like our concerns are being address or answered in a timely manner. There are three meals a day served with a couple of choices for the residents to choose from. My loved one enjoys the food offered.

I have visited many communities and this one has the most active and genuinely happy residents. Residents enjoying various activities and socializing throughout the community. It truly feels like a happy home. The staff is friendly and approachable. I would recommend.

Beautiful facility and just perfect for my 95 yo mother. We have looked at several assisted living places and this one just stood out from the rest. The staff is very friendly and incredibly helpful. We are so happy to have found Brookdale Palm Coast. [name removed]and [name removed]

I’m totally impressed with all the loving employees at Brookdale st Augustine The management was very approachable and knowledgeable in every process and open to suggestions that help us to move into this stay This place is a absolute pleasure to have my dad here I would recommend this place for good loving care for any family members in such a need

The community is okay. The food is not as great, but I can understand for having to cook for so many. The community is a safe place for my loved one and the family can take them out at all times. The outside could have more attention such as cleaning up around the building to make things look neat and orderly.

Mom has been a resident of Brookdale St. Augustine for 5 years now. Although she has slowly sucommed to old age, (she's 90 1/2), her CARE at Brookdale as ALWAYS BEEN WONDERFUL! The Nursing Staff keeps us informed of her status, and even though Mom can be Cantankerous a lot of the time, she is still treated with kindness and caring staff. They make sure she gets her shower and help her dress, as she has become very lax in that area. We could NOT be more pleased with our choice of Brookdale. A final salute to [name removed], on the front desk, who takes SUCH GOOD CARE of all the residents - she genuinely cares that they are well taken care of. AND to [name removed], the Executive Director who is always available and personable - both are outstanding representatives for the facility!

This is the perfect place for our mom, not so fussy as to be intimidating but very adequate and well suited for her. The staff are all really caring and seem to understand that making residents comfortable and at ease is key to their satisfaction with living in a community.

My mom is no longer there because she fell while there, and broke her femur in the same leg that she'd broken her hip the month before. The reason she isn't there is because the Florida guidelines for memory care require that you be able to stand on your own. Because of the break that happened there on their watch, she couldn't go back. I'm not sure I really think that's fair. I understand the law and they don't have a mechanical lift, so they can't lift you if you can't help. That's basically why she isn't there, but she was only there barely a month. I did also experience, while there, a large theft that they claimed to have investigated. I'm unsure if they did or not, but somebody stole right of my mothers ears, a [price removed] pair of earrings. I would want people to know that, it's not as trusting. You go into Brookdale of St. Augustine and you think it's beautiful, very well appointed, very well decorated and very nice. In fact, I'd say it's plush or posh, but the staff are not quite as dependable as the place gives you the impression. That happened within the first three days she was there, and I got a real sense of uneasiness. I felt she was being cared for. I liked that I requested and they allowed me to put a camera in my mothers room. I could watch it 24/7 if I wanted to, although I didn't. I typically watched during mealtimes and things like that, but I was pleased that they allowed me to do that. The supervisory staff - like the director, [name removed], marketing & sales people and the admissions director, they were very understanding and kind throughout the whole process, and as kind as they can be. They were all very very understanding and compassionate. It was just down to the nitty gritty of the CNAs' who actually worked with my mom, who weren't always the kindest. Overall, it was a good experience. It was a much shorter experience than I'd anticipated because I moved my mother in there with furniture and everything, and she only stayed less than a month, which was very discouraging. I had hope she'd be able to return after a stint in rehab, but she wasn't. She's now in a skilled nursing facility, and I was disappointed with A Place for Mom because they don't work with skilled nursing and I was kind of left on my own to figure out the next steps. I would, however, still recommend A Place for Mom to others.

Everyone I met or passed in the hallway was happy and loved it there. Nothing was staged. I've been to many care centers and felt best about this one. [names removed] is a caring, genuine person who blew me away with her attitude, humor and compassion. I still hope my mother can live there, but right now she needs more of a hospital setting. BTW, my mother loved the place too.

Our family is having a much better experience we are happy with the improvements being made here that were not happening at our loved ones previous community. The staff are all very friendly, we do not get any attitude from anybody. We have spoken with the director and we know it is not her fault given the current struggles with staffing, but the house keeping is lacking some. Also the maintenance guys is all by himself during the day and with it being a bigger place it can take awhile for things to get done. The meals overall are pretty good and even though our loved one does not participate in the activities, they staff do their best to encourage.
