Brookdale Shreveport

I lived alone for 51 years. When I needed more assistance I moved to Brookdale. For me, Brookdale is home.

I would highly recommend the facility. We picked this community because of the small resident to staff ratio and located in quiet neighborhood.

5 on everything - We are very happy with Brookdale, however sadly, mother took a fall & is now in the nursing home...Brookdale was great. Based on the experience we had we would recommend Brookdale Shreveport to others.

All that matters is that my mom feels she is a positive part of this community. and she feels very much cared for! It was her decision to stay at Brookdale after her recovery from a broken hip at [age removed]. And she chose not to return to her independent life of driving, traveling, and caring for a large home. She's happy, and she's living life within and outside of Brookdale.

Very warm and inviting place. I came to visit a friend and felt very welcomed.

I really am pleased with Brookdale. The staff are so easy to talk to and work with. They do everything they can to make my Dad happy, which I especially appreciate since he was having a hard time with such a big change initially. They certainly do keep him safe. It's such a relief to know that he is being cared for in a way my sisters and I couldn't.

So far so good - we like it here. We've had an extreme amount of good help with all my mother is going through. I commend them for what they're trying to do. I like the size of their memory care and the way the facility is set up for their residents. In placing my parent here or anywhere, I would always add a security camera in the room. It's very beneficial, and shows you more what all they ARE doing for your loved one, and not necessarily what they're not doing.

Yes I would tell a friend. It is perfect for my dads needs. He is not social so they have done well with taking care of him without contacting his family too often. He is happy there.

Brookdale is like a prison. They put your loved one in a small room and don't allow the residents to interact with each other. It is nothing more than a holding place for elders. I would not recommend you send your loved ones here. Please keep your loved ones with you at your house, and do not send them to this horrible place. The food is horrible! I wish I could move my loved one out of the community, but I can't due to the contracts with the community. Once your loved one is in the community they are stuck. Once your loved ones sign over a Power of Attorney to the community, you can't get the contract moved without another attorney costing thousands of dollars to move the Power of Attorney.

[Name removed] has been at Brookdale for 6 weeks now. I am very pleased with the care that she is getting. I go to see her every other day all hours of the day & evening . The employees that I have contact with are very kind & helpful. I feel sure that Brookdale was the right choice!!

The atmosphere at Brookdale Shreveport is just so comfortable, when we first walked in we felt such at east. It is a very nice and active environment, you could see the residents interacting with each other and interacting with the staff members. The staff were calling the residents by their names and you could tell they took interest in actually getting to know the residents. There is something going on everyday, the activities are great. They have live entertainment come throughout the week. There is bingo, church related activities, coin collecting groups. We have also been pleased with the value, we think it is very appropriate.

I just moved my mother into Brookdale Assisted Living and she absolutely loves all the people and residents. Everyone is very kind and truly caring, looking out for each other. The facility team has gone above and beyond to help with the transition, making sure my mother is comfortable and happy. The facility is on the smaller size which makes it great for the residents as they feel they know each other in a personal manner.

Prior to the pandemic the community had bingo and other activities. I was quoted a price for my loved one's care. The community added additional charges, and feel the community didn't explain the a la carte process. Brookdale Shreveport said they could accommodate giving medications and other items. They said that my loved one could be removed easily, and it was a huge issue to get my loved one off of some of the services. None of this was explained to me initially. I felt that this was uncomfortable for me to hear that it wasn't as complicated as the community stated to me. I feel that the community wanted to just charge money for the extras of care. The billing is horrible. There is a basic service rate, and then additional personal service rate for the additional care items. I wanted an itemized bill and it took corporate forever to give this to me. They told me that the program they use for billing doesn't break out by itemized billing.

We chose this facility at the time for the location, it is very close and convenient to the hospital and doctors offices that she has to use. They do have a shuttle that takes her to and from doctors appointments but it only runs certain days of the week. I really enjoy the director here she has been very helpful to us. We are having some issues with billing and we are having a hard time with communication, but I do know that they are very busy. I do think they need to itemize and tell you what the charge is for on personal service rates for on their billing because I am having a hard time getting an answer from anyone. Overall, I am happy with her care here and I would recommend this facility.

My mom is in memory care. It is a great place. As for the food they need more fruits and vegetables and fewer fats. They need more help to manage the residents. The room size is adequate. The halls are long. It takes a great effort to get through o the staff. We are glad that my mom is there it is nice that she can have her own belonging there in her room. We love the activities director. We like the special care that the caregivers give to the residents.

Very nice facility. Employees were friendly. They were more expensive than the other ones. But really the living areas being studio style just wouldn’t work for my parents. We will need a separate sleeping area.

Brookdale in. Shreveport was great and my brother only went through a month of respite until his wife recovered from cancer surgery. She moved back home and brother [name removed] moved into a memory care unit near their home in AR. Thank you for your help.

all of the staff seemed very friendly, rooms were clean a no offending smells. rooms were very nice and roomy, prices were reasonable although there was a $1700 committment fee if you wanted to be placed on waiting list.
