Brookdale looks nice on the outside, but your loved one won't be taken care of! My Mom was just left in the bed all day with no bathroom or food helper except a diaper on! The only good thing was my Mom's nurse. Terrible place.

My mother had issues with her roommate that they chose not to resolve, which led to continuous problems. She had things come up missing, among other things, they just didn't care. I would have never placed my mom there had I have known. Please check the report on their license, it will tell you everything you should know about this facility.

My mother recently passed away at Brookdale on Geary in the memory care facility. We made several visits and each time the level of cleanliness was below acceptable. Many times staff was not to be found for more than 10 minutes to speak with or open the door for family to exit (they were taking a smoke break - all together). She was left for who knows how long without care and attention during her last days. It was hard to be close to her. Upon her death, staff went through everything and took anything of value. When I say everything, I mean everything. Her suitcases were unpacked and things taken and then replaced with another resident's dirty laundry. All the pockets of her clothing were turned inside out. Her purse had nothing but ID and phone book. All her crackers, tissues, watch and who knows what else, were emptied out and the purse packed in a suitcases of linens that were bought for her but never used. Most items ever bough new for her while she was a resident disappeared.

Not satisfied at all. Good nurses were treated badly and fired. Kept nurse that used to work at penitentiary and did not treat patient as older persons should be. They needed chef, housekeeping, and maintenance personnel. He was admitted to hospital and Brookdale refused to have him back! I have addressed these concerns with director when we moved his things out. Couldn't even provide a dolly to move big furniture!

We liked the staff and the way our relative was treated. It's one of the best places I've seen, and I've been in many. The charges and hidden fees were outrageous - way past [removed]k per month even with Hospice care. Our daughter had a bad experience with promises made and then rejection of a relative, so circumstances matter.

We toured Brookdale Geary Street during our search for Assisted Living for our loved one. This facility was great! All really nice folks. We were very excited about how close to home it was, also. But my loved one needed more care than they could provide, so we continued our search.
To say we are disappointed in this place would be an understatement. My mother-in-law moved in there in [date removed]. The food is terrible, but the care she receives is even worse. She is an insulin-dependent diabetic and she has to hunt the caregivers down to check her blood sugar and give her insulin. They have been confined to their rooms lately due to covid and several times, her food has not been brought to her. On [date removed] they raised her rates $1,119 per month. Yet their care has gotten worse. The housekeepers don't show up half the time. Her bed hasn't been changed in 3 weeks. Luckily, we are moving her out, but I'm very concerned for the people there that don't have the opportunity to leave or have someone to be their voice. If you love your person, do not let them live here.

The food looks good. The activities looked alright. They were trying to charge me before my loved one entered the place. I picked the community, because when I first looked at it, I liked the way that things were set-up, it was clean, and well staffed, but my loved one ended up not moving into the community.

The staff were very accommodating and supportive, albeit thinly resourced at times. My family member had a very nice room that was well laid out and kept very clean. Overall I would recommend Brookdale Geary Street to other folks.

Didn't get a great vibe from Brookdale Geary Street. The tour was conducted by the maintenance guy who didn't seem to care that much or want to be there. The facility was dirty and in poor repair. Residents and staff didn't seem happy or friendly, in contrast to the facility that we ended up going with.
My loved one loved the food. The staff worked really hard, espeically the home healthcare aides. It was a really great and amaxing eperience. I would totally recommend.

The staff is great, but they are often underpaid. It was not a good experience. They got rid of alot of staff, and no one really helped my loved one during that time. My loved one did not like the food. They did not offer activites because of corporate upset. The value for the money was terrible. If you love anyone, do not bring your loved one here. They lost my loved ones clothes, other personal items and blankets.

Brookdale Geary Street has some major improvements that they need to make and my ratings show that. Med tech training is probably the main thing that I think they need to work on.

July 29, 2022Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
They got us in right away and were very accommodating. They were very patient with my father-in-law, which I found great because he can be repetitive and anxious sometimes. They are very good with him, and he seems to be more at ease now that he's got a place of his own. When I toured the place they had so many different activities and rooms that provided different experiences for the residents; and I really liked that. The staff doesn't seem overwhelmed and that's a big problem for other places. He's got his freedom back, and is able to stay in place there as he transitions to memory care in the future. They already have a place for him when that time comes, which is exactly what I was looking for. Overall I would recommend Brookdale Geary Street to others. In addition to Brookdale: A place for Mom REALLY helped me out at a time that was really hard for me because I was taking care of him and he's very anxious. [name removed] really helped me through a tough time. I have also recommend people to APFM. I've run into people who are looking for senior living, and I've pointed them in APFM's direction because they have helped me tremendously.

the sales staff you have to watch because they'll tell you anything you want to hear to get you in; but I am very happy with Brookdale now that we are here. we're just working on a few promises that were made and we're unsure if they'll follow through on those. the atmosphere is very bright, whereas some communities are dark and gloomy. they have high ceilings, with lots of windows and natural lighting. it is rather expensive as well. one thing that stands out to me is every time I bring my mom back from a visit, the staff comes up to her, call hers by her name and mentions how glad they are to see her. they'll ask her if she had a nice day/outing; they're very personable. the activities aren't that great. they do have bus trips, bingo, gardening and that's about all I know of. they could add more entertainment that's not just tv. the food seems okay and the memory care unit is all on one floor. the area is locked and very safe. I would recommend Brookdale to others.
