Brookdale Asheville Overlook

I would recommend to others. No facility is perfect but I'm very pleased overall. Management and health and wellness director very responsive to our needs.

Mom only had one week at Brookdale. She had a mini stroke or episode that made us take her to the hospital. They did not want her back at Brookdale because they didn't have the care she needed so we moved her into a skilled nursing facility. She really liked Brookdale for that week so I would still recommend them for assisted living. Brookdale did a great job making Mom feel at home and comfortable. Surprisingly for us, she went to the dining room for her meals rather than staying in her room. Her incentive came from being placed with someone with similar interests and they became good friends. They work to make people happy and that is one of the top best things that can happen

The entire front office quit or was fired in one week, except the sales woman. The RN was overworked and didn't reply to our inquiry's. They need more staffing for cna's. Our father had to fight to get a bath once every 10 days. The food was real bad. The cost suddenly accelerated with zero explanation. I would beware and seek elsewhere. The Interim director blamed problems on " people not wanting to work" and folks being able to " make more at Burger King. " When I suggest perhaps he should increase the pay, he seemed confused. The cna's worked hard, but there wasn't enough of them.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Asheville Overlook and the overall experience has been okay so far. However, I am having trouble getting responses and follow ups when I reach out. Otherwise, the staff is extremely friendly!

I love that my mom had a private room, but also had a friend next-door and other friends that she could eat with or sit on the porch with but she had privacy if some of her family or friends came to see her. I love that she didn't have to try to prepare meals herself or live alone, and it was a friendly convenient place for family to visit. We were able to have a birthday party for her in the big family room. I loved being able to visit with her on the front porch during the summer. I loved being able to be involved with activities like helping to plant flowers for the flowerpots in the summer. I loved that she had some therapy if she needed it. The meals were always delicious and the activities were outstanding! We got to have a tea party at Mother's Day. We had celebrations for Valentines and Halloween and people visited to sing on occasion or she loved church and being able to have a regular Church Sunday like she did at home. my experience with Brookdale was wonderful and I think my mom enjoyed it as well. She would've loved being at home, but she would've been lonely and she had friends and purpose at Brookdale!

We live out of state and they were very communicative during the move in process and made it very easy despite being physically far away. Whenever we have questions or want an update about how she's doing we can always get ahold of someone.

All staff at Brookdale Asheville Overlook work as a team. The staff are very helpful to residents and encourage safe independence. Staff speak to residents and remember their likes and dislikes. They communicate to each other between shifts. Housekeeping is done daily. Deep clean is once a week. When required, emergency housekeeping is done promptly by any available team member. Laundry is done separately for individual residents. From the moment I called and expressed my decision for Mom to move into Brookdale, [name removed], in sales, welcomed me for another visit. He showed me the available room and told me when furniture and items could be moved in. [Name removed] also went that very early afternoon to meet Mom and to do an evaluation. [Name removed], RN, completed her evaluation in the late Friday afternoon visit. I was notified by [name removed] that Mom would be welcome in the Brookdale Asheville Overlook community. Mom has been there for about a month now. She has been receiving attentive care, both OT and PT, assistance with bathing, and involvement in activities. She is strongly encouraged to come to the dining room for meals. The meals have been good quality and are served individually with her preferences met. Med techs are attentive when giving meds and remain close to encourage drinking and swallowing. Activities are provided daily. Social, emotional, physical and cognitive activities are available each week. Spiritual gatherings are offered. Mom has been cared for with a professional, compassionate approach. I would definitely recommend Brookdale Asheville Overlook and the current team to others.

It has been a great experience for our family at Brookdale Asheville Overlook. It seems like they do a really good job with the food and it always smells really good when I visit during meal times. If I had a recommendation, it would be maybe that they could cut down on the portion sizes and not have as many starches or breads. I think they are awesome and I would definitely recommend this facility to others looking.

We chose Brookdale Asheville Overlook because of the cleanliness of the facility, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the staff, and the activities. Mom also fell in love with the room they had available for her. She is really enjoying all the activities that they have provided. They do things like ice cream socials, scenic rides and then this week has been spirit week so each day was a different decade they dressed up for. I would definitely recommend them.

Looking for a place for our mother was not easy, but [name removed] at Brookdale gave us room to breathe and listened attentively to all of our questions. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot , we felt welcomed and had yet to meet anyone. That may sound odd, but after visiting over 6 places, we could get an immediate idea of the type of place we were about to walk into. Brookdale was clean, staffing was adequate, and most of all the residents were smiling and engaging with each other. It was definitely a welcoming, family atmosphere.

Some of the promises that were made in the beginning are not being carried through with. They have had quite a bit of turnover, the core staff are great, but the temporary staff have not been the best. We do wish the care was more consistent.

LOVE the executive director, very homey feel, and good activities calendar.

Just got dad moved in a couple weeks ago and everybody is friend ly food is good, just getting use to new surroundings. [name removed] was very helpful in helping us make it work.

We found this community to be well-kept and welcoming. My husband was impressed with the attitude of happiness of the residents and professionalism of the staff.

This community seemed very clean and nice when we visited. The person that took us on tour was friendly. They have walking paths and they allow animals.

I'am pleased with my fathers move to this community. He is doing pretty well since his move here. It is a good safe community with good people. They have a great staff, they are caring for him well. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the community, everything looks good. There are good activities available for residents. He is pleased with the meals. So far everything is working in the right direction. This is a community I would recommend.
