My loved one was previously a resident at Brentwood Retirement Community and the experience at this facility was terrible. Many bad things are happening in that place and I do not trust them. My loved one had over $[removed] in cash in a wallet and it disappeared. No one had access to his apartment other that the people working there. I would not recommend this facility to anyone for their loved ones.

It is a DREADFUL place. Mold all over buildings, property is not maintained, food can't be eaten so I fed mom. Don't send anyone there....assisted or independent. They don't AC kitchen and dining area all the time. No activities and high staff turnover. I wouldn't send my dog there. The sales people make thousands and thousand and thousands off a placement too. They don't care. I saw non medical person had a prescription to a client too. This is a hard area for AL

Outside is disgusting. It needs a complete overhaul landscaping needs work. Everything outside needs work. I don't know about the food because she never eats there. Not too many activities and not happy that the pool is not opened the one bedroom apartment it's OK the staff is very nice just understaffed like every place else. It was the most inexpensive, and it was close to me

Moved my mother there 6 months ago. Care gone steadily downhill and staff doesn't seem too care about residents!! Cannot get a nurse to help and she's disabled!!!! They give her a hard time about everything from her laundry to her meals every day. Getting her out ASAP. If your relative needs assistance because they're handicapped...not recommended. Very stressful for my mother and our family!!!

Our family had an in person tour with Brentwood Retirement Community and the place to us just seemed run down. It needs work on the outside as well as the inside of the community.
Everyone is very nice and welcoming. They take the residents to the doctor appointments and also to Walmart. Well my dad is the one living here and they always welcome me in the dining room with a small fee for my meal and they let me join in the bingo games and other activities they have

Our family had an in person tour and we were able to see the apartments which the layouts were good, we were also able to see the main building and where the residents would get to eat and it was nice
Brentwood has a lot of friendly staff, but I would consider other places first. They were very slow or didn't get to work requests and issues that were addressed; they never did until after moving our loved one out.

Our family had an in person tour schedule but it took us more than 20 minutes driving around the community and area and still could not find the office. There were no phone numbers to call for directors, no signage - nothing. So we decided to cancel the tour, just not a good experience off the bat.
The community is very nice. I feel relieved knowing she is taken care of and is starting to get acclimated. I would highly recommend this community to others. The only thing I think could improve is the variety of food offered.

The Brentwood Story Good afternoon, my name is [name removed]. I am a retired educator in poor health, who is latent-deaf. Inspite of these challenging circumstances, I am grateful to be a resident of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility in Lecanto, Florida. Why am I grateful?I am delighted to answer this question with several examples in straightforward, honest details. My analysis of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility is not without bias. But it will be completely accurate, fair and honest. Two years ago I was recovering from a car accident, at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill, FL. I had been homeless for months and living in my car. I had only some clothes and a car that was totaled. The hospital was reluctant to discharge me without a safe place to go. They sent out an SOS message to all health care and retirement communities within a 100 mile radius. The message asked if anyone or any place was willing and able to help a 70 year old hospital patient who needed safe affordable housing. Of all the many communities and facilities that received this request for help, guess how many responded? Only one. Only Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility along with the Brentwood Health and Retirement Center answered this call for help. [Name removed], the Care Liaison at Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility together with [name removed], the admissions director of the health care and rehabilitation center at Brentwood came to the hospital to talk with me. They came to help, they were the answer to my prayers. They offered me time and the opportunity to receive the therapy vital to my recovery. [Name removed] had a small studio apartment in the retirement community that was affordable and would be available as soon as I was discharged from the rehab center. Their generous assistance gave me a new life, filled me with hope instead of despair, joy instead of tears, a home that was safe and secure, instead of the uncertain dangers of homelessness. [Name removed] received support and approval to furnish my little apartment with furniture, bedding and linens that I did not have. My new residential neighbors gave me dishes, bowls, glassware and silverware that I needed. I sincerely appreciate the many kindnesses that were bestowed on me. I lost the health insurance I previously had when I moved to Citrus county. It would take time to re-establish healthcare benefits under a new policy. I required medicine, tests to monitor the status of my health immediately. [Name removed], the Executive Director of the entire Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility was instrumental in arranging for my immediate health care needs to be covered until my new and permanent health plan became effective. [Name removed] also applied for a drug discount card, on my behalf, to curtail the costs of my medicines. What I hope you readers recognize from my detailed examples, is that the defining and distinguishing features of Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility are the remarkable people who work here. This community and the people who care for us residents are the benchmark standard of excellence. You may be thinking that other communities and facilities have caring administrators and directors as well. In all truthfulness, I don’t know for sure; I would think they should and probably do I can tell you truthfully that the cost of living at these other places is much higher than the cost of living here at Brentwood. The plush décor, the new and fancy transportation vehicles and the gourmet meals they provide are very expensive. For me they are unnecessary and overrated. For me, luxury, glitz and glamour are just a showy display that does not enhance the quality of care, enrich, promote, or extend my life in any way at all. Healthy nutritious meals, a warm and homey atmosphere is far more beneficial than any superficial furnishings will ever be. To what extent or degree these other places and people provide generous and unselfish care, I am not sure. But I can attest unequivocally to these irrefutable facts. [Names removed] are endowed with abundant characteristics such as humanitarianism, patience, dedication and love. There are countless others that you will meet when you come for a visit and hopefully decide this is the best place to live. These hardworking individuals lavish attention, concern, time and effort on every resident, whenever and wherever the need arises. Brentwood is the epitome of quality health care, inspiring and life enhancing services as well as selfless resident-focused care that insures a safe and healthy environment at a reasonable and affordable cost for everyone. Brentwood is the complete and total living package. This complete and balanced arrangement is meticulously maintained by the men and women who work diligently for the welfare and wellbeing of all the residents. During this Covid 19 pandemic, we have had all our meals nutritionally and safely prepared and hand delivered to us daily, without additional costs to the residents. The extra effort is displayed with joy and smiles to boost our spirits. [Name removed] and [name removed] deliver loving hugs and thoughts through cards and gifts of simple goodies to all the residents. These procedures are established to maintain the highest levels of health and safety during this crisis. Brentwood Retirement Community and Assisted Living Facility is the ultimate loving environment and the special place we call home. This is my genuine, precise and true analysis, with just and fair commentary , which is the result of personal experiences and personal knowledge. Thank you for taking the time to read the Brentwood Story.

We loved the location — pretty drive in low traffic near town and nestled in a residential community. People were friendly and helpful. Apartments were spacious and comfortable. Residents were out in main areas participating in activities. Each apartment had its own enclosed porch. The facility is not upscale but is comfortable and feels safe and welcoming.

The staff we met during our tour of this community were nice. The community is older, however it did look clean. I was not impressed with the dining room as it felt small. I think this community may need some updating. I would recommend taking a look at it to see if it would work for your loved one.

This experience has been very, very nice. My uncle is super pleased and happy about this community. They keep his room clean and the community. They offer a lot of things to do for the residents which we like. Everything has gone great so far!

A nice and calming environment but with enough scheduled activities to keep a person socially active. Small enough for any needed personal attention. Easy to find your way around. Was impressed with the director and her vision for the place.
