My parents moved in and they were there a short time when Dad became sick. They were understanding and allowed us to come and go, as needed. When we lost Dad, they were very supportive to Mom. The meals are very good. Most of the staff members are approachable and friendly. Mom's room is always clean and the staff do check on the residents. So I would say it is a pleasant place to live and my Mother enjoys it there.... Read more

It's just retirement living in your room. Mom sits outside a lot. She finds it hard to live in just a room. The curtains could certainly be updated. They have updated the lower level. It's nice. The staff are very nice. Mom doesn't advocate much for herself. They don't really know how she's really feeling. Even though people can ask for seconds, which makes my mom feel uncomfortable. The portions are very small. There's no flavour. Everything is from frozen. Rarely a home cooked meal or eggs. Mom lives or when we take her out because she gets flavour. Maybe even just a little garlic plus. There's no fresh fruit for dessert. No fresh veggies. They don't need much storage space for it as they can order from Collingwood daily.

It's a very nice place, and very well kept. The staff are nice and very helpful to the residents. I would recommend it definitely. It's been difficult with Covid, but they're doing their best to keep the residents active and their brains stimulated while keeping them safe as well. I think they've done a really good job through all the negativity of Covid of keeping things positive and looking out for their residents. My loved ones were concerned about coming here, because they felt it would be institutional. I don't think they realized just how friendly and open it would be. It's more like senior living with some assistance, rather than what most people think of when they hear "assisted living." And both my loved ones were glad they made the move once they got here.

5 Stars-My parents (95 and 96) were at Blue Mountain Manor for a short time. We moved them there from the hospital because we thought they couldn’t go back to their house. My mother had broken her third hip in 2 ½ years and was in a wheelchair. My parents were not willing participants. They wanted to go home. They refused to send their laundry down, my father insisting he could wash it. They refused to go for meals and BMM accommodated them for a time by bringing their meals to the apartment. My father was largely unpleasant with people coming and going. The staff at BMM were very patient and saw their discomfort for what it was. Not that they were nasty people just people in a situation they didn’t want to be in. They eventually got them to go down for meals and I think my father was coming around to being pleasant. The staff commented on this. Unfortunately my mother also has some dementia and while my father was in the bathroom, decided to walk into the kitchen. She broke her femur. They were very quick to deal with the incident. They were so kind and professional.

My first impressions of Blue Mountain Manor was how homey it is . All the staff that I encountered the first few times I was there prior to moving my mom in were very kind and friendly. The fit seemed right , right from the start. The staff have gone above and beyond to help my mom adjust. The food is amazing. The activities co-ordinator makes sure my mom has the opportunity to participate as she has memory issues and doesn't remember to attend on her own. The nursing staff is friendly and approachable. I highly recommend Blue Mountain Manor and glad I made this choice.
