We took a tour of Bishop Place during our search for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. This facility was okay and our tour was pretty good. However, I was not impressed with the staff interaction with the residents and didn't see staff or residents smile or acknowledge each other.

November 16, 2023Thank you for sharing your review of Bishop Place Living. We greatly appreciated your feedback and have shared it with our team. Kind regards, Alison
Based on our experience so far we would recommend Bishop Place to other families but they could improve on the meals - our friend gets them delivered and usually it comes cold and not always on time;

Food is edible at best. A reasonable effort is made to provide residents with opportunities for exercise and socialization. Apartments are generally spacious and comfortable, though getting maintenance to address a noisy dishwasher or refrigerator can be an ordeal. Management is generally unresponsive or very slow in addressing residents' voiced concerns, even with regard to safety, security or sanitation Little or no effort is expended in keeping residents updated regarding practices or policies. What little information is provided is inconsistent, unclear, contradictory or unreliable. Long on promises, short on performance. Staff are well-meaning and generally courteous, but poorly trained. Situation is exacerbated by very high staff turnover. Several glaring instances of grossly unqualified and poorly-vetted staff hires have occurred within the 24 months I’ve been a resident at Bishop Place

Bishop Place is a caring community . The staff are very helpful when we visit. The communication is very good and they keep me posted on what is going on. The food is good. We chose this community because we were most familiar with it. I would recommend this community to other families.

I have never lived in a "senior place" before, so I can't compare this place fairly. If it was my place, I'd say the carpets, especially the public ones, need cleaning. Maintenance is run by a guy who is very unpleasant. Bishop Place could use an orientation packet to explain the electric and climate control features. Some activities are ghostly--art therapy is coloring in coloring books alone. The M-F exercise class is really fine, and is accessible to individuals who are handicapped. I could really use help hanging curtains, but cannot bring myself to ask maintenance for help--sort of sad. Outside there is a dump for discarded furniture and appliances. Two concerts were great. So, it's a mixed bag!

August 29, 2019Good morning, I hope your day is going well. My name is Shawn, and I work at the Milestone Support Center (located in Vancouver, WA). I first want to say thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are continuously trying to improve our business, and reviews like yours help with that. I apologize for the negative experience that you have had. I have shared this review with the community and regional leadership team for further investigation. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the exercise classes and concerts. If you wish to provide any additional details about your time with the community, please send the community a private Facebook message. I can then send it to the appropriate individuals. Thank you again, and have a great rest of your day. Shawn - Digital Marketing
My dad has been at Bishop Place since December 2017. He started in Assisted Living, but due to dementia and paranoia he was moved to Enhanced Care to be better served. I cannot say enough positive things about the care he is receiving and the staff's communication with me. While he is wanting to come live in our home each time I come, he is pleasant with staff and other residents when I am not visiting. Please understand that it can be hard to find a CNA that isn't in a room assisting others, but I could not do better for him myself. God bless these sweet caregivers!

This place was once a nice home years ago. It now changed into a place where you can see there is not enough money being spent for the care of the facility and hiring unqualified staff members. Non licensed caregivers for the elderly is not a good idea. The grounds are not taken care of - and requests are not fulfilled. The director does not pay attention to the residents needs and also allows college students to stay there- imagine that - in a retirement community!

Deteriorating community. Workers are college students or kids that don't find jobs. No knowledge of senior care, they are there to make money. Heard many tell sob stories to residents to try to get extra money. Surrounded by low income apartment building with people screaming around at late hours. Also has casino building near some apartments. Loud music at weekends. Seems to be no control of who comes and goes in alzheimer section. Food is undercooked or burned.

My mother is doing well since her move into Bishop Place. Everything there is fine, the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. I have not been there during meal time, but my mother says the food is good.

A Place for Mom has scored Bishop Place 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
