We knew it was assisted living but thought there would be more oversight concerning Mom's health, like simple observation from staff helping her dress or bathe, or housekeeping. We had to ask them to evaluate her when we observed various things. Getting a UTI test took days, there was no guarantee of seeing a doctor once a week. Mom ended up with a severe UTI that landed in the hospital with serious mental decline. She went to another place for rehab. BC just was not a good fit for her needs. Using the facility's doctor was a bureaucratic nightmare. We had to push for a urine test with the nursing staff. Then we had to wait for the doctor who was in Richmond to say, yes, do a urine test. Then getting the test was hit or miss. Finally after getting it, it had to be sent to a lab somewhere so it may not be picked up that day. And then wait for the results to be returned to the BC staff, then for the staff to read it and act on the orders from the doctor.

If we could afford somewhere else to go that was close. We would move.

I would definitely recommend it to others. I would tell them that the cleanliness depends on the staff and they need to keep an eye on it. The same goes with Laundry.

Everyone knew the names of guests and guests knew the staff names. It is a place where active seniors are helping each other. The kitchen is not attentive to diet restrictions and they served same food for 4 meals straight.

I would say the director is very nice and caring but the place is understaffed. The whole med department needs an overhaul. A lot of building issues, leaks, faulty electrical and I know they are working on remodel but it is REALLY slow.

I was previously a resident at Bentley Commons Senior Living Community and the facility/my experience was okay. To me, this facility was awful. All the aides would do is take me up to the third floor to my room. Not all of the aides, but most of the older ones. The med tech, [name removed], never spoke to me. That includes from the first day that she came to give me my medicine. [Name removed], the administrator, is nice and he tries hard. He truly wants the best for his people, I hope he can be rewarded for all that he is putting into Bentley Commons. The food was good at first. One thing that they did do well was showers. As for me, I would never go back to Bentley Commons.

My loved one is getting good care. They can improve with communication. My mother has had trouble getting her front door fixed even though we have reported it several times. When she first moved in they raised the price and did not tells us until we were signing the paperwork. We have been in constant contact with the facility so there was absolutely no reason why they could not have communicated.

I did a virtual tour with Bentley Commons and it was great. The space looked very nice. It is more for independent living so the rooms were larger. The staff were all super nice and the executive director was great.
Our family had an in person tour and it was an excellent tour experience
We were not the biggest fan of the location. You walk in and it is absolutely beautiful, they have a big grand entrance. But immediately what we saw was a lot of residents in wheelchairs. The assisted living and independent living residents are mixed so it just has a whole different feel to it and that is not what my mom was looking for.
I really liked Bentley Commons, we had a good tour experience. The reason we did not choose them was due to the proximity and they had add on fees here so we would not know what we are paying each month.
The gal who gave us the tour was great. When I walked in I did get a faded, old resort feel from the facility.
[name removed] was great. Her friendliness, her explaining everything and her tour were super. She answered questions i had and i will call her back this Monday with [name removed] situation.

We chose this facility because it was clean and it had people who cared with nice programs. It looked like a really good fit for my friend. The room sizes are adequate, so it is great for what she needs. She brags on the food all the time, she really likes it. The residents have several options they are able to choose from off of a menu. My favorite part about the community would be the skilled care that my friend is getting. It is very comforting for the family. I would definitely recommend Bentley Commons Senior Living.

We were expecting a wonderful experience for our family member. The staff was lovely when we visited. We were treated like royalty. However, after move in, everything changed. The office people weren't friendly anymore to our family or resident. We noticed many people sitting around sleeping in the open areas. It looked like a nursing home I stead of independent and assisted living. The quality of the food was poor. I wouldn't recommend this facility.

We were extremely disappointed when visiting our friend at Bentley commons. The grounds were dirty and not well maintained. Large groups of staff were frequently outside smoking! The foyer is very beautiful. We stayed for lunch and the food was not healthy. Our friend assured us that it was the normal. The apartment was ok, but dated. The aids seemed to have lots of extra time. Groups of staff talking in public areas while patients were literally crying and screaming for someone.

I was very impressed by Bentley Commons and when the need for respite care comes so my husband and I can get out of town they would definitely be my first choice. I love how bright it is when you walk into their entrance and it is obvious where to check in. The dining room is beautiful and they have plenty of activities for their residents. The onsite beauty shop is a real plus for the elderly ladies, too. The apartment I was shown is a very generous size. The only negative I could possibly share is that respite care is on an “as available” basis. I can understand why Bentley Commons can’t guarantee a place, but once it is determined that a place is available for a specific time period, it should not be sold or given to anyone else. It makes family planning too difficult and there isn’t always going to be a back up plan for care. Of course, this works both ways and if the family makes a commitment there should be a penalty if they decide to go in another direction.

We really feel athat home here. The staff is friendly and are there for us with whatever we need. We are at peace here. The room is easier to get around in when you are in a wheelchair.
