My partner, [Removed], recently spent 5 days at the facility and she could not be more pleased with the overall experience. She cannot stop talking about and telling others about the wonderful care. Prior to going to the Nanaimo Memory and Complex Care facility, she did so with considerable anxiety and misgivings as this was her first such experience. Now, she would be happy to return for another stay!... Read more

my dad had to go to nanaimo hospital and needed more care than his wife could do (needed a lift).i called around to different places in nanaimo and all were full.a couple places wanted $ 1000.00 deposit to put his name on the waiting list.this deposit is non-refundable if you go to a different home.avenir memory house said they didn't take a deposit and had good reviews so i left my info.they called about 3 weeks later and said they had a room available,i said great and drove 900 kms.to the ferry.i just got in the ferry line up when i got an email saying a bunch of staff had quit and my dad couldn't go there now.i asked to speak to the manager and he said they couldn't say when another room would be available.i came back home and the office called about 3 weeks later saying there was a room available and his wife could visit every day and he wouldn't have to quaranteen because he was coming direct from the hospital.what a JOKE.i had a conference call with about 4 managers, they forgot to call his wife,so had to get them to call.everything we were told was wrong once we had signed the contract.yes he had to quaranteen for 2 weeks,no his wife or anyone else could visit except for 45 minutes a week after quaranteen and there is a 1000.00 non refundable community fee.i assumed that was for haircuts etc.but no its for the few minutes of paperwork they do before the person moves in.they hire someone to answer phones and lie to you until you sign the contract, then you find out the truth.some staff were great, one said my dad had parkinsons, first i'de heard, she then said sorry she had grabbed someone else's chart

I visited Avenir Memory Care today. I was very impressed. The outside looks pretty austere but the inside is very warm and welcoming. [Name removed] graciously showed me around two of the floors which are identical. This place is definitely on my short list.

We were very impressed with this facility. [Name removed] took a lot of time with us. She gave us some info. to take home with us. It's a new facility, just over one year. The rooms are a good size, and each room had a full bath with a walk in shower.
