My mom needed to be in Memory Care which is where we put her. I visited her often. They had very little entertainment for those in Memory Care though. I realize that some of the people were deeper into their illness and didn't want to participate. My mother could have used a lot more attention and activities to make her stay more enjoyable. As it stands, she moved deeper and deeper into depression. She was only there from June to November. She fell on [date removed]and started going into hospitals and rehab until her death on [date removed]. The facility was clean. The food was often unidentifiable but probably nutritious. I felt like it was very understaffed. The rooms were a very nice size and the staff that I did interact with was very friendly. The overall security of my loved one was excellent. My mother was not able to wander off. It would have really been nice if they had an outdoor area that they could have wandered to though.... Read more

Read MoreThe nursing staff was excellent. Sometimes we wanted a doctor's opinion, but a doctor wasn't usually available. We needed memory care. This was by far the best value for what we could afford.

Some of these ratings have to do with the fact that my dad is fighting most everything since getting there. The food was great when we sampled it prior to signing. My dad was happy with it when in assisted living, but in memory care it was not the same quality level. We did talk to [name removed] about this & she made some adjustments to diet orders (?) that seemed to help. I have been pleased when talking to daily staff. They seem to try their best to help the situation. Dad needs hearing aids charged & cell phone charged. He thinks he can do it, but doesn't. Without either of those, he can't communicate well. When he can't hear on the phone because his hearing aids aren't charged or not even in his ears that just creates more problems.

We moved her here from a different facility where things were not going as well. The cleanliness and friendliness are great. The staff, care services, meals and activities are also great. This facility is awesome. My loved one couldn't be happier. I would recommend Astral at Auburn to family and friends.

When you walk into Astral at Auburn, It's like walking into the very best hotel. The food smells delicious. They have a locked medicine cabinet in each room so that residents have their own medicine available, and the activities make my mother very happy, especially shopping. No nursing home atmosphere with very spacious apartment size rooms.

Astral at Auburn has been a really good community so far, and the head nurse [name removed] has done a really good job. The community is always clean - and when a mess does occur someone is always right there cleaning it up. The staff are wonderful and are so caring, the two ladies that look after our loved one have done such a great job keeping an eye on her and staying on top of the correct medication and no overdosing to where she is just a zombie. There are staff always on site. There is a physical therapist and speech therapist we are taking advantage of and sometimes due to our loved ones memory loss speaking and physical movements might be tricky - we really appreciate all the work they put in

Astral at Auburn is a really nice and clean community but there are pretty much no activities going on - they could really benefit from having different games or readings

We think our friend is getting good care there, and they're getting her settled in well. There were a few glitches when they first started out because they were so new, but everything seems to be under control now. The staff is good, so that helps. I would recommend them to others.

This is a nice place to live for you or your loved one. This is a good community. They have activities like bingo, rides to different trips to stores and once the weather gets nicer we will probably go on other trips. I like the staff and they are very nice.

A Place for Mom has scored Astral at Auburn 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
