My husband was at Aspen Creek in Sullivan for 5 years. They are absolute angels. They have been like our family since the day we came. The care they gave him was so good. Over a 5 year period, he was up and down with his Alzheimers. They adapted to everything he needed when he needed it. They never once treated him or us as being problematic, and he had a lot of anxiety with his sundowners. He was treated with such dignity and respect. He wasn't treated like he was just another patient. They just knew what he needed. I went everyday, and it was like spending the day with my family. At the end, they made sure all of us could be there and were comfortable. They made sure we had a place to sleep, that we had meals and snacks, but most of all that he was still so well cared for and was comfortable. They actually added staff to make sure he had what he needed. I really cannot express in words my gratitude for everything they did for us.... Read more

ASPEN CREEK IS AMAZING

My dad lives here and we are beyond happy!! We loved him from another facility to Aspen Creek of Sullivan because of some care issues. From the moment we walked in the door to tour we knew this was the right fit. It’s perfect all the way around. This is a home, and is super nice and comfortable. But even better is the care they give my dad. He loves all of the staff and they truly love him. If something is going on carewise, they call us and talk through it. They don’t just decide without us. THANKFUL, GRATEFUL and RELIEVED are just a few words to describe how we feel about Aspen Creek

EXCELLELENT PLACE FOR MEMORY CARE

My Mother spent the last 6 weeks of her life in Aspen Creek. While it was a short time, her care there was excellent. The staff was very personal, friendly, RESPECTFUL and quite attentive to her needs. When she fell and had to be rushed to the hospital, the manager, [name removed], accompanied my mother and stayed with her (or assigned a staff member) so she was never alone. I found this to be exceptional. I ate there myself a few times and the food was very good. The common living area and dining room was very pleasant and not at all like a typical institution. Everything I saw was clean and orderly at all times. They take great effort to create a homey environment, which is hard to do under the circumstances. The surrounding neighborhood is a pleasant family neighborhood and mostly surrounded by cornfields, not too surprising in Illinois, but a welcome change from a big city. All in all, I cannot say enough good things about Aspen Creek.

Management needs work.

This facilty apon first glance was a dream home for my family member. After futher evaluation over 8 months, i began to notice thag management is never to be found, or having to work the floor due to staffing shortages. Unable to keep staff due to the aids working at an unsafe level of patient to staffing ratio. I brought my family member there thinking if I paid the big bucks i would get big things. Sadly a waste of money.

Response from Aspen Creek of Sullivan

It is tremendously unfortunate that not all reviews are fully vetted. This is the same review that has been posted on multiple sites by a disgruntled employee. Review sites should be used to help families make informed and important decisions regarding care and services for those they love. Aspen Creek staffs at a 1:5 ratio of staff to residents. That is our minimum staffing. We also have many staff members that have been with us for almost 10 years. I am grateful that we realized the issues with this individual, and that a bad review is the only negative outcome from his employment. Visit our website at www.liveatthecreek.com for testimonials from our families that will attest to the quality of our care and services.

Wonderful place

My mom was cared for at Aspen Creek in Sullivan. I can't say enough about the amazing care that she received. When she became ill and had to go to the hospital, when we couldn't be there, the staff went and stayed with her. They were there round the clock for her. No other place would do that for a resident. Not just that, the facility is not a facility, its a home. Its so pretty and clean, we loved it the moment we walked in the door. Staff are so great. They treated all of us like family. When mom couldn't be at home any more, this was a great place to be. We are forever grateful to them for how they cared for her and loved her.

Aspen Creek

It is a very nice place but the owner is all about the money. I was to get my Mom's room pro rated upon her death and was told she had to die before the 10th of the month to get that. That was not in our contract. She had mailed out a letter stating that years prior that I had no record of. That is not a legal binding contract. An addendum has to be made and signed by both parties and sent in to the state. I was given all kinds of stories on why I could not get money returned. Was told the money was to redo room. Put $1000 deposit down for that. Rooms are never redone when residents move out. At a time when you lose a loved one no one should have to go through this. A very fake and phoney person. So please beware.

This is a very inaccurate and unfortunate review. I am the owner, and the above conversations were never had with me. Not once did this family member contact me. I had to hear about all of this via this review. Our policy on such things is that we charge a flat all-inclusive monthly rate. We do not prorate our rent and our contract clearly states that our rates are monthly, not daily. Deposits are required so that we can do repairs to the rooms when a resident moves out for any reason. Rooms are redone each time a resident moves out. Walls are repaired, the room is painted, the carpet and flooring are professionally cleaned (or replaced if needed). Our organization did not tell this family that her loved one "needed to die before the 10th of the month". Its sad that the family member did not actually call me. Before this situation arose, Aspen Creek was the next best thing to sliced bread. We cared for the resident for many years, and did many things that didn't get charged for. I don't regret that and would do it again and again for a resident. Its sad, because the person who wrote this review that says that I as the owner am a very fake and phony person doesn't know how much I do for residents when and their families when they need help, and that includes financial assistance. What happened here is a lack of communication on why we have policies and that we do follow them. This situation is one of those times the policy was adhered to. In order to be fair and consistent to every person we care for, we have to have a policy to guide us. I am sorry this situation happened. The resident that we cared for was amazing and all of us at Aspen Creek felt her loss deeply. I am grateful for the opportunity to have known her and cared for her.

Aspen Creek, My Grandmother's Home Away from Home

A Place for Mom helped our family to find the perfect home for my Grandmother who suffers from Dementia. My Grandmother was residing in an assisted living community but then suffered a stroke, which advanced her Dementia, and made it unsafe for her to return to her assisted living community. A Place for Mom told us about Memory Care Facilities, which we had never heard of before. They sent us a list of options that met our criteria. We toured several facilities, which were all wonderful, but we knew the moment we entered Aspen Creek that this was the perfect fit for my Grandmother. It is a home not just a facility that takes care of their residents. They are a 12 resident home with amazing caregivers that are loving, caring and patient with all of the residents. Upon entering Aspen Creek you feel like you are in someone's home. The family room, dining room and kitchen are all in one open space which encourages residents to spend the majority of their time out with other residents rather than secluded in their rooms. They have wonderful chefs that prepare amazing meals throughout the day with each resident being able to come and go from the kitchen when they are hungry for a meal and not shuttled to a dining hall because it is time for a meal. They keep residents interacting with one another and give them a sense of purpose throughout their day. My Grandmother enjoys cooking and being in the kitchen, which they encourage her to participate in whenever she feels up for it. They even have a cat and 2 dogs at the facility to complete the package! I feel like I am walking into my Grandmother's home each time I visit. I am so thankful that I chose to call A Place For Mom that day as without that call I would have never found Aspen Creek, my Grandmother's home away from home!
