The community is small, well staffed. They really understand of the needs of residents with memory issues. When I visit my loved one it is just like coming to nice homey living room.

I loved what I saw on our tour of Anam Care of Rockford. The people were friendly. The place was clean. It just wasn't as ideal of a location for our family.
Anam was a beautiful place for my mom to live. She developed dementia at too young of an age, so transitioning to memory care was hard on everyone. The staff made it easier for all of us, including my mom. Their approach to individualized care and creating a real community, honors each resident. From celebrating holidays, birthdays, garden parties to simple gatherings on the secure outdoor patios, my mom found daily joy. Above all, the staff ensured my mom had a healthy quality of life and never felt isolated or alone. We are grateful every day for her care and love seeing how the Anam community lifts up their residents and their families.

This review is all my opinion: this place is scary and a place where people are left to die without any joy. They will try everything to prevent you from letting you move your loved one out once they have them $$. My grandpa was here for 5 mo before we moved him out. He said he was beat up by other residents: people would get into the wrong beds/rooms and fight. He lost weight and had extreme cognitive decline at Anam. Both of these significantly improved after we MOVED HIM OUT (he still had dementia but at Anam he was way worse and clearly miserable). The staff would loose his hearing aids($$) and glasses and he would never have them on when we visited which really decreased his quality of life. There is no fenced outside area for residents to sit or be outside while in my opinion is just wrong: every other facility we went to had this. They do have activities but they force residents to stay awake all day and in the main pod (rooms are locked). Every other place allowed naps.

The staff are all friendly and we do really like them. The care they offer and provide is good given everything the community has gone through this past, she receives really good care. Our loved one is really happy with the activities, and they let us know what all things she is participating in.

My partner was there 19 months and never had a sore, which was remarkable. He was well cared for. They were so friendly. The food was really great. His room was really big. It is a small community which was great. You could sit outside and watch the birds in the tree. The residents were always around people.

My mother was here until she passed away. This is a very pricey place. Their accounting is terrible. They lost my check once and at the end told me I owed 6,000! Also it is hard to move them once in Anam Care. I tried to move my mother but they would not let me.

I was happy with them and I really liked that they had a deep investment toward the Memory Care. I admired the young helpers who were all kind, respectful, and welcoming to all the residents. The administrators were educated and had a consistent routine that made things run well in the community. The only thing I noticed is that they can improve on being more engaged with the residents. Bring lively exchanges with the residents.

We really like that this community is small and all the people know each other. We really like that for my loved one feels more like home. They also offer a day program that my loved one attends and has made a lot of mew friends there. Also I like that the place is always spotless.

My mother had serious dementia, general lack of mobility, and bathroom issues. Anam Care was the perfect place for her. The staff assisted her multiple times per day with the bathroom visits and provided very consistent and friendly care. Medications and other medical needs were handled in a timely and professional manner.

We are very please, after looking at 3 other facilities, with choosing Anam Care. The staff seems to understand the needs we were looking for. They are willing to talk with us when we have concerns and questions. Thank you Bernie, Glen & all of the Anam Care Staff

I was not able to have any appointments on Thurs the 10th. I was told the appointment was for Wed at 3:30. My sister and I made the Wed appointment and Bernie was very gracious and was able to meet with us even though the appointment date & time were altered. We are very impressed with Anam and their approach in working with Alzheimer's residents.

Our loved one lives at Anum Glen, the newest building at Anum Care. When we were deciding about a community, Bernie, the owner called me and answered all my questions. She truly cares about her residents and is very knowledgeable about dementia care. The care by the staff is exceptional, everyone is treated with dignity and respect at whatever stage they are experiencing. The staff is trained in memory care techniques. The setting is like a family home with a shared living and dining space and individual bedrooms. The bathrooms are across from the bedrooms and are well lighted, spacious and accessible. I was very impressed with both Bernie and Glen, who is the Executive Director of Anum Glen. The day we moved our Mom in, Glen sat chatting with us so that he would get to know both our Mom and our family. Any anxiety that I had over the move completely disappeared. We are extremely pleased with the care that Mom is receiving. She is happy, and says that the food "is just like Grandma cooked," a high compliment indeed! I no longer have to worry about her wandering outside and getting lost. I live over 2,000 miles away and will visit several times a year. in the times in between my visits I know that Mom is receiving extraordinary care. The communication from Anum Glen is excellent. As you can probably tell, I highly recommend this community.

Specializes in alzheimers and dimentia - mom's not there yet - but they're kept separate. They have condos that are more independent.
