A Place Like Home Assisted Living Facility

An older home and not updated enough. It felt more disorganized and no real living room setting. There was a smell to the house and noticed as soon as you came in

Absolutely loved this place. The girls and [name removed] are absolutely awesome. Definitely considering.

I toured a dozen or so facilities, both large and small, before choosing this home. I couldn't be more pleased with the care at this facility! The home is always clean and orderly, staff treats residents and their families like extended family and is very attentive to residents' needs. It's comforting to know my mom is safe, happy, and cared for.

My uncle had a hard time giving up his home and transisting to an assisted living but after a month of being there he felt like a A place like home was his family. The staff there are caring and kind. They even checked up on him when he had to go to a rehab for a bit. They truly became like a family to him and made the last 6 months of his life very happy.

Might provide great care, but I found the environment depressing.

My aunt currently lives at A Place Like Home. She's been there for two years. She had been living on her own and was not taking care of herself. Since moving to A Place Like Home, she's put on weight, stabilized her medical condition, and is mentally sharper.

When it became time to place my father in a care facility which was an emotional decision,the owner and staff walked me thru the process. A Place Like Home was recommended by a professional placement agency. This gave us great comfort in our decision. My father started out as a handful, but the staff quickly won him over. He shortly became a part of their family where he lived out his life with all the love and care he deserved.

My mother in law lived at A Place Like Home for five years. She was happy there. She had been in a large facility before and felt lost. She was treated very well at A Place Like Home. There were outings for lobster dinners (her favorite) and other restaurants, numerous field trips, Moose club dancing and karaoke, and more. In this small home, she had more choices and attention than ever before. Visitation was easy and comfortable. But, most importantly, she got excellent care. My wife and I were pleased. We highly recommend A Place Like Home.

I selected this facility for respite care based on the location near my mom's neighborhood and her friends. After three days I found my mother happy to move in permanently. The small size of the facility allowed everyone to get to know each other quickly and the personalized care by the staff and owner cannot be matched by any corporate run "resort" facility. The staff were very patient and accommodating, and were always responsive to my daily phone calls and frequent visits. The staff and owner go out of their way to provide personalized care. Dr. Walker and the staff made my mom's 91st birthday a special occasion, throwing a party complete with her favorite foods. My mom's friends visited often and were made to feel welcomed by the staff. I feel that the individualized care and attention of this small environment was an excellent fit for my mom's needs.

This is a lovely, homey facility that I was fortunate enough to have found for my mother's last several years. The staff is top shelf and the care, excellent. [Removed], herself, is as kind as anyone I know and funny too. She gives a lot of special attention to each resident, individually, and is always full of hugs and kisses. [Removed] is incredible. She is dedicated, cooks great, and is always ready to help whether she's on duty or not. She genuinely loves all of the people who live at A Place Like Home. [Removed] have hearts of gold and read to my mom during her final 30 bed-bound days. [Removed] treated my mother like she was an extra special jewel. She was! Thanks to all of you ... I will never forget the comfort that you gave to my mother, myself, and my sister!

I had a loved one placed here. Before entering everyone was friendly and helpful. After he got there it was pure chaos! I was assured they were able to care for a person with dementia and sun downers but it was quite to the contrary. I was encouraged NON STOP to place him on a medication that has a black box death in the elderly warning if given in high dosages. He was unshaven, disheveled and wearing the same clothes from 2 days prior when I came to remove him from there. There was dried blood on his bed linens that had been there for numerous visits (from a skin tear on his arm). I was nagged, badgered and chastised about his behavior. The staff is VERY unprofessional (a family is apparently staffed as the care givers there) and after we removed my father from there my son was called and we were accused of stealing items! In my personal opinion, this is not a safe place!

Got there early and was given full tour. Workers are friendly, place is well cared for. Spacious lobby and outdoor areas for all. Thanks to A Place For Mom's help.
