We were forced to move my father from a large institutional care facility due to variable and constantly declining care. A Place of Our Own has been an incredible improvement! [name removed], the owner, manages all aspects of my father’s care flawlessly. Her team is excellent, they act in concert, with each other and our family, to provide care. Although this is a small (6 residents) facility, the amount of hands-on care our father receives is far greater than in the large facility. My father’s weight has now stabilized (he was gaining uncontrollably at the previous place), his clothes are cleaned and available regularly, and he is now clean, dry, and well groomed ALL THE TIME! [name removed] and her team helped identify sleeping issues, and worked with us and his doctors to correct. This feels like a true partnership, and while my father’s Alzheimer’s disease continues to progress, I’m confident he is getting the best care available and living in a safe, healthy and happy environment.... I was discharged after spending 2 months in the hospital into A Home of Our Own for rehabilitation. I could not walk and could only sit up with difficulty for maybe a minute or less. But it was quickly obvious I'd made the best possible choice. This place is fantastic and I lack adequate words to describe how welcoming, thoughtful and all-around wonderful the owner and staff are. My rehab progress has exceeded all expectations. I well on my way to a better than full recovery, and care I've received here is the reason. Their skills, compassion, cheerfulness and inspiration are what's gotten me back on my feet. If you have a loved one who needs care, you will not find a better place. Take it from someone who arrived on a gurney and will be walking out with the biggest smile imaginable on my face.

This community was on my list for one that I would go with but I went with another community because I felt like they did not have the skills to care for my loved one. They seemed to be more for independent living.

A Place for Mom has scored A Home of Our Own 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
