Residential Care Home
We cannot express our complete joy and hippieness that our mother received at the Avalon House at Cawdor Court. Mom was there for over 5 years and the total care and attention including the staff's friendship for life was outstanding! Opal and Noel were with her all five years, and they kept our family at peace with their care and love for her. Keith, Rieta, Mark and Marianna.
I have a loved one that lives here. Everything is what you would want for your loved one. First, the place is comfortable - feels like a real "home". The food looks excellent and the staff go out of their way to help the residents. They are warm people. Contrary to the other review, the new Administrator is a breath of fresh air. Nice, energetic and knowledgeable. Normal! The place only holds like 8 residents, so activities are a challenge...but really, I think it is hard to get seniors to do activities everywhere. Also with only 8 living there, you get a higher level of care. Price is pretty fair. Other places start lower, but have so many add-ons you pay more in the end. My loved one is very happy there!
Our friend who resides there has done remarkably well under your care. We have interacted with her by video, and she always seems cheerful under her care. She has done much better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually than expected since she started residing at your facility. Thank you!

In Gainesville, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.
The median monthly cost of a room in a care home is about $5,000 in the state of Virginia. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location.
