This community was very nice we had chosen it because it felt a little homier than others we had looked at. The staff is very nice and caring and we have good communication with them. In fact, it was them that brought it to our attention that mom was going to need hospice and they were going to take care of that for us. Mom is completely wheelchair bound now to the point where they need to deliver her meals to her room. The price wasn't any more expensive than others we looked at. My brother and I feel very confident in the choice we made and we know that she is receiving the best care she can get being there.

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Learn More About Care Homes in Lexington, MA

Lexington, Massachusetts provides a quaint, suburban retreat for residents looking to retire. Just 30 minutes from Boston, area residents have convenient access to both Boston’s thriving downtown as well as regular necessities within Lexington’s city limits. Lexington also has transportation systems that are ADA-compliant and offer senior discounts.

In Lexington, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Lexington, MA

The median monthly cost of a care home is about $5,500 in the state of Massachusetts. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
