Blessed Jera Home Care in Cathedral City, CA
5.0

They were just superb! Mom was on hospice, and they were most accommodating. They went out and bought new curtains for her room, and did a lot of similar things to make it a pleasant experience. They were up all night with mom before she passed. They really were just over the top in how kind and caring they were. Very warm and caring. Great experience and would certainly recommend Blessed Jera Home Care.

Absolute Desert Care in Rancho Mirage, CA
4.8

When I toured Absolute Desert Care, I was very impressed with how beautiful the home was and how large the bedrooms were; the staff was very friendly and caring. My 95 year old aunt had been in a board and care in Fresno for a year and when I moved to Palm Springs, I looked for a board and care close to where I was living. Within a day, and without any hesitation, I made the decision to move my aunt down to Absolute Desert Care. My aunt is happy there, the staff is caring, kind and patient, the food is good and everything seems to be as I would want it to be. My aunt is not involved with any activities so I can't rate the activities.

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Known for luxurious living and gorgeous weather, Palm Springs is a popular celebrity destination and boasts more swimming pools and modernist homes than anywhere else in the country.

In Palm Springs, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Palm Springs, CA

The median monthly cost of a room in a care home is about $3,500 in the state of California. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
