The Board of Health and Environmental Control, Division of Health Licensing supervises this community type. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include three meals and snacks that meet dietary needs and special menus are provided for those with special dietary needs . In total, there can be no more than 3 residents to a room. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include medication assistance, transportation, at least one structured recreation activity each day, and assistance with ADLs. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include staff may self administer medications under licensed staff supervision, administer routine medications, and monitor blood sugar levels. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to ensure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessing the extent of residents problems and needs, recreational and social activities that are suitable, desirable, and important to the resident s well-being, requirements and arrangements for visits by or to physicians or other authorized health providers, and assistance with ADLs for the resident. Public assistance is available through Medicaid State Plan.. Staff members receive education in a number of fields. These areas include medication management including storage, administration, receiving orders, securing medications, interactions, and adverse reactions., emergency procedures, use of restraints , and Confidentiality of resident information and records and review of the Bill of Rights for Long-Term Care communities..
