This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 25. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include described as personal services, assisted living care, the provision of assisted self-preservation, and administration of medications by a certified medication aide. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment to determine the resident’s functional capacity with regard to ADLs, personal preferences relative to care needs, whether family supports are available, and A written care plan must document the assessment findings. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver programs- ) the Community Care Services Program is managed by the Department of Community Health’s Division of Medical Assistance Plans and partners with the Division of Aging Services and the Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) program. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assisting residents with self-administration, applying topical medications, and assisting with an Epi pen.
