Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as compliance agreements, what the community will and will not do to meet the resident’s needs, resident’s preference to the identified course of action, and alternatives offered to deal with the risk. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include three balanced meals, snacks, and fluids are required. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Waiver program –the Living Choices Assisted Living Waiver program. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with recreational activities , medication assistance, assistance in obtaining emergency care , and linen service. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assistance with self- administration of medication, if the resident is physically impaired but cognitively able, staff may assist the resident in removing oral medication from the container and in taking the medication, and community staff may place the dose of medication in another container and place that container to the mouth of the resident.
