Staff needs to be vetted, and bonded because they have stealing going on in assistant living and memory care. It was closer to me and there isn't very many independent senior living facilities.

We chose The Trace and it is a 5 for cleanliness, friendliness of staff. But I'm not too happy with the value for cost. However, if the person is independent, we would recommend The Trace Senior Living community to other families.

It's one of the nicer ones..aesthetically, unfortunately they are in the memory care, so that probably drops a couple of points. For most part they've addressed issues that we've brought to their attention.

My mother loves her time so far at The Trace Senior Community. They take care of all her needs at this time. When she has to move to memory care hopefully they will continue.
The facility has a nice common area and dining hall. We've just had a problem with the service. I would recommending keeping on top of the staff and visiting often. because we're just not getting all of the services we were promised.

They are very short staffed and the residents are paying the price for it. Management does nothing to fix the numerous issues. Elevator has been broken for months. Definitely do not even consider the Memory Care unit, Memory Care is a complete money grab, Really bad glorified baby sitting. Residents live in filth since rooms are not cleaned. Clothes are washed but seem to disappear. Food back there is slop. No meaningful programs or activities. The residents are sat in front of the TV all day while most staff plays on their phones. No assistance with grooming or bathing or clothes changing. RUN RUN far away from this place!!!!

This community was like a nursing home. Me and my loved one are still very active and I felt like this would not have been a good fit for us. This community was dark and smelled, it was just not the right place for us. The tour guide showed us around and it just seemed sad. It was just not the right place for us. The outdoor area also did not allow for walkers or to safely get around. To have two people in the community the cost was also really high. The tour guide was great but it was just not it.
Response from The Trace Senior Community
May 31, 2022I am sorry that your visit to our community resulted in the way you viewed our community. It’s understandable to feel that our color scheme or our aesthetic choices are not in line with your personal preferences, but we really hope our community doesn’t come off as “sad”, or “like a nursing home”. Our prices are competitive with the numerous similarly-placed communities in our area, and they help us to fund a housekeeping staff and a robust activity schedule, along with resident assistance and a full dining service three times a day. A little less then half of our residents do not require any care. We have a beautiful walking path along with a walkway to The Trace biking and walking path of St Tammany. Our hallways are well lit and wide to accommodate anyone who resides at The Trace. We hope you will come back again sometime, and give us another chance. While we may never be the place you and your loved one want to spend your lives with, we strive every day to make a positive experience for those who do. We understand that everyone has choices on what is right for their senior living needs.
I chose The Trace because of the larger room sizes and there are fewer people who live here. The staff is very friendly, but the problem is they are short staffed which is no fault of their own. The residents are all very friendly and welcoming. I really like my room size, I had plenty of room for all of my things and I have a nice size closet. They come in and clean once and week and the grounds are well kept. The facility is pet friendly and they seem to enjoy my dog. The food and dining service is starting to improve. I would recommend them to others who are looking.

We chose The Trace because of the size of the facility, it is not too big and not too small .We also really liked the staff members. The room sizes here are huge, they are double the size of anything else that we looked into. They have had a couple covid lock downs and they did a good job trying to manage that. I would recommend to others looking.

I like the workers here, they are very friendly, especially the day workers. The meals and dining right now are not the best, we just got out of a lock down and during the lock down there was a few times i did not receive breakfast. When I would receive breakfast it was served to close to lunch time. The activities are also still pretty limited right now.

I would say they're about average, on par with what other assisted living facilities are like, based on what I hear from my friends. Our activities director accepted a different position within the company, so we're now without an activities director. But I think they have a good staff overall.

During the few months our loved one has been there, the feedback we have heard about the meals is that they are great. The activities are back to normal the residents are able to go on outings again. The staff members would be higher than 5 stars they are so friendly. We were just amazed in the beginning at the size of the apartments. Our loved one was able to take all of his furniture and there is still space leftover.

I would tell others looking at The Trace that I do think there is an issue with the quality and variety of the food menu, I have to bring her food from home a lot. The activities here seem to be limited, the only thing they really have to do is bingo so the residents get bored. I would say it is not a place for a very active senior. Overall, I would recommend this community. I think it is a reasonable value for what you pay and I know that she is safe and secure here.

I am born and raised in Covington. The Trace is NOT how we treat people. Especially our vulnerable loved ones. The Trace is : Large Corporation management that cares more about the Dollar than the patient. I would not choose this assisted living for my loved one.

The Trace has very much declined lately as for as both quality of service, management service, and reputation. Over SIX of their care givers have quit for another senior facility, including THREE caregivers, of which our family member was so very fond of, and always looked very forward to seeing them daily. Additionally, when we visited The Trace, it was evident that the top management staff were more concerned with other issues than interacting with their employees. It was also our opinion that the top management was clueless as to how to professionally motivate, interact, or keep their best care givers from quitting.

They have been taken over by new management since my mother moved in in 2015. I certainly preferred the old staff and management. They were more personable and took time to hear the residents's issues. I do not believe that my mother's care is at the quality level it was two years ago.

We toured here and I really liked it. It wasn't where mom wanted to be, so we had to compromise. But this was a really nice place.

A Place for Mom has scored The Trace Senior Community 7.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
