St Johns Lutheran Home

My mom has lived at St Johns for a long time - independent living. It was once a nice place to live. I'm not sure if it was new management or what but the last 5 years or so things have changed. The food service was changed - lots of complaints by residents. Then there was a bed bug infestation that was not handled professionally an went on close to a year. Their main building is where there problems are located. Mission Ridge and the Cottages are nice as they have put their money into those locations and neglected this main building. Now they are partially taking portions of the building and reconstructing - it's a mess. There is only one entry and exit area on the far west end and the far east end. Should there be a fire it would be a disaster as there is also a lack of staff. Transitional Care is a nice area but they closed down medical on 5 and I would be that 4 will close in the next 5 years. They have a problem with keeping staff and definitely do not want to hear anything negative. If they hear of it, you will be called in and 'talked to'. Asking that they change or make the bed or keep compression socks or any knid of socks at all will be upsetting to their staff. As they have said "we have a hard time keeping our cna's so please don't talk to them as it was upsetting to one of new ones!" I'm not the cause of your problems, all you have to do is go online and see that there is a management problem.
