Working with Senior Helpers has been a very good experience. From the very beginning they have been great! We use them as a secondary service and they have always done their best to accommodate us on a short notice and I really appreciate that. I will continue to use their services and would recommend to a friend.... Read more

Check out a review from one of our happy clients, “Friendly and efficient helpers. The helper I have now anticipates my needs which is very important when you are ill. She seems so genuinely interested in my welfare and my problems and tries to cheer me up. She is a doll. And she keeps busy. She finds stuff to do when I’m napping. She is a great worker.” — M.K., Client

They were totally unreliable. Today someone was supposed to be here and they are not. I would tell anyone not to use this services. We had a few good workers in the beginning that quit and since then it has been hard to find a good one that shows up on time. They are also always so tired that they complain about being tired and really cant do anything.

The client: Our 93 yr old mother, who wants to be in her home but is deteriorating physically and mentally. Arranging care visits for our mother started out great. The initial visit from a Senior Helpers staff member to describe their offerings was professional and well done. It included all of the empathy for "Mom" one could possibly expect, and we began the service. Then it all went the opposite direction. - The key introductory management person promised on the first visit did not show up. The caregiver arrived without any direction or guidance materials. - Several caregiver visits were "no-shows", without notice. The responses from Senior Helpers were defensive and in one instance, not truthful. - Twice, contrary to the promise from Senior Helpers, a new caregiver came to Mom's door without notice to anyone, and without a familiar Senior Helper staff member to introduce them. Very stressful to Mom, who would not open the door. - 4 different caregivers, all of whom were pleasant and likable. 2 of the 4 were caring and attentive. 2 were less so. We requested only the 2 who performed well and Senior Helpers would not accommodate that request. - We ended the service after just a few weeks. This review relates only to a local franchise, and is not a review of the entire organization. Others may have had more positive outcomes, and I truly wish Mom had received the experience expected. The take-away is to beware. These services all claim excellent, understanding and empathetic care. However, they are not fiduciaries and they will not tell you that their own interests and schedules might take precedence over their clients. They have to be firmly held to their own promises and described services from the very start, and fired quickly if they don't. We let it go on for too long.

The owner, Dean , spent a considerable amount of time with me on the phone and in our home as we were considering our options for our parents. He was helpful and considerate. We never felt like he was pushing us in any particular direction. He listened carefully to our needs and provided just what we asked for. The telephone response staff were excellent. We always got a call back if we left a message for someone and the scheduling staff were efficient and helpful. The Personal Care Assistant who came to our home was pleasant, proactive, respectful and kind to our parents.

I am still in flux as to when and if we bring dad home. I met with a lady from here and we had a very good talk. When and if we bring dad home I'll most likely go with Sr Helpers or HomeInstead.
