We moved my MiL out of Providence Point

This year ( 2024 ) the Age-in-Place language was removed from the Providence Point agreement. Also, restrictions were applied preventing aids from accompanying independent living residents to activities & dining rooms. Therefore, my disabled MiL who has lived in a Providence Point apartment since 2017, was no longer able to attend activities and was under threat of MGMT moving her to the nursing home section ( or "health care" their euphemism.) Assisted living residents & health care are also not allowed to attend activities. After seven years there, the changes are just not acceptable ( especially given the cost) and we moved MiL to a disabled- & aid- friendly community. We cannot recommend Providence Point currently.

Many many disturbing issues

My mother was a resident for several years. The only good thing there is the atmosphere and housekeeping. The administration was non responsive to any issues. They did not value patient and family rights and we struggled and had to involve the county ombudsmen to firm a family council. In our opinion Very few registered nurses and the cna staff has far too many residents and are constantly complaining of under staff and low wages. In our experience Residents encouraged to wear diapers , take anxiety meds and be wheelchair bound to make it easier for staff. Call bell response time is terrible with staff turning off bell without providing requested assistance. 2 patient transfer was ignored causing resident to suffer fracture. Lawsuit settled out of court. Weekend staffing is poor and resident care suffers. The negative list goes on.

Very Nice and VERY Expensive

It's just outside of Pittsburgh. The have a little bus that will pick you up and take you around to where you need to go but it was well over $6000 to $7000 a month for independent living! I don't think so! Everybody's different but I mean, I couldn't live there and my mom would probably only be able to stay for year and then she's have to find something else. It's very nice but they didn't have any rooms available anyway.

Frequently Asked Questions about Providence Point

A Place for Mom has scored Providence Point 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
