The reason for the 4 is the caregiver was young, and didn't cook. So she would always ask me if she could go get food here or there, so it was ok. She was a gentle young woman. I would say that it would be nice if someone could do some light cooking, making coffee tee toast. I believe there was a generational gap. I also believe the company was honest. In this private space, you’ll be able to view messages from your loved one’s caregiver about how they are doing and what tasks have been completed for the day. Sometimes it is hard to contact management initially; once contacted, very helpful. My son says my parent's house is very clean. Mom's personal assistant is very friendly, maybe to the point my dad may intimidate her to provide help for him (The contract is for my mom only). Mom is pleased with the care services. Mom's long-term care insurance pays

Don't know the owners but my recommendation is to call out an underperforming resource earlier rather later. The first one we had was good for the first couple weeks then started missing days and always had an excuse. We were happy with the replacement. Unfortunately, these groups turn over people quickly. Perhaps a good question on the front end is "what is your staff longevity and retention rate.

Management and staff is very unprofessional, rude and just plain does not care. They are only out for one thing and that is your loved ones money. If I knew what I knew now I definitely would not have gone through them. Luckily we are able to cancel our contract with them and proceed with a much better agency, one who actually cares they hire people who have no idea what they are doing completely baffled by this you have to repeatedly tell some of them what to do some just want to sit and do absolutely nothing. Long story short save yourself some money or spend a little extra going somewhere else Would not and do not ever recommend this company to anyone

I liked the lady they sent out but canceling them was hard. The staff member we had was great and accommodating. This service was needed for a few months. They did take her a doctors appointment for me. They require a minimum of 12 hours a week in 4 hour segments. The staff member was mostly there for companionship and encouragement for ADLS. I think they could improve on placing non smoking staff with non smoking clients as well as lowering the 4 hour segments to 2 hours.

Our mom was in the hospital and needed 24/7 care. We had asked Preferred Care at Home for CNAs only, and we negotiated a rate. At times, the person they sent would show up an hour late, and they would still charge us for that hour. They would sometimes leave an hour to an hour and a half early. We asked for some money back, and they refused. I would never hire them again. It doesn't matter if it's in your home or in the hospital, it's not okay to just leave a patient that requires 24/7 care. Our mother was not safe with them.

The people who are in charge of sales will tell you things that they don't really do to get you to sign on the line . So don't rely on them to do things like contact insurance companies and see that through, because they won't do that kind of stuff. The tell you do they do, and then they sort of do, but they just don't follow through. It took a while to find a caretaker who was a good fit, but we kept trying until we found the right one, and she's been doing a good job. My loved one is very particular and has taken care of her own house for 60 years. So it's very hard for her to find somebody who will do the cleaning and things the way she wants it done. A lot of people when they clean have the mindset that as long as it's clean, what difference does it make how it's cleaned? But to my loved one, it really does matter. Our current caretaker is doing a marvelous job and wants to learn. She gets a list of things to do from my loved one, and then does them exactly how she's been asked to do them. It's expensive paying for the service AND the admin. Right now they're helping with relatively basic tasks like taking a bath, but not fixing meals unless my loved one doesn't feel up to it. If I were more able myself, I would be doing these things for her so we wouldn't have to spend the money on it. But I would and actually have already recommended them to several people who were in much more serious situations than we are.

We had a good experience with Preferred Care at Home but we stopped using them because the minimum was 4 hours a day 3 days a week so it was just more than what we needed. The caregivers were all friendly and helpful and I would recommend them to others who are looking as long as you need 4 hours minimum.

We had two different experiences with them, with two different caregivers. One woman did an amazing job. She was incredibly caring and kind, and was always on time. She would look for something to do when my mom was occupying herself -reading, etc. This caregiver was amazing. However, the other woman was always late. She took off her mask while she was here, and then told the company that my loved one said it was okay. Which she definitely did not say. We were worried about our loved one falling, yet we were trying to encourage her mobility by going on walks. One evening my loved one was ready to go on her walk, and the caregiver said "You go ahead. My hip is hurting me." This woman left early one night and said my loved one had sent her home because she wanted to go to bed early. When I addressed these issues with the agency, they said she had been a good caregiver for them, and they had talked to her and found no issue. I told them we shouldn't have to pay for the time she wasn't there when she left early, and they said it was at the direction of my loved one. So they charged me as if she had stayed the whole time, which I thought was ridiculous. I was really disappointed in their response. The first caregiver was wonderful, and had that been my only experience, I would have told you they were the greatest. After the second experience, I would say the exact opposite. I would say they were the worst.
Read MoreWe were extremely pleased with Preferred Care at Home Tucson, our family sings their praises. The caregivers that we had were extremely friendly and helpful. They were gracious enough that when we had to put him in a care center, they didn't charge us for the rest of the days in our contract. We were very satisfied, they seemed to seek what your needs are and accommodate those. I would highly recommend them, when they come to do the interview just be open and honest with them.
