This is a great place. My dad was here getting therapy. His gait has improved so much. We have no complaints. I would recommend this place to any of my family or friends. Everyone made us feel so welcome.

The doctors only makes rounds once a week and nursing staff seems to be unexperianced and if you have a loved one don't let them go to Medical Park West. They have a new Director and a new Director of Nursing I believe they are trying to make changes for the better. My mother was overmedicated to the point of not being able to complete a sentence and couldn't stay awake for 3 minutes without going back to sleep. Staff very slow to respond to call button and very seldom return phone calls to loved ones inquiring about patients care, we requested a meeting with the doctor on 2nd day and still have not been contacted about a meeting 17 days later.

Poor respiratory care, breathing treatments administrated by unqualified people. Poor medication confirmation {did she take them?} Poor response to "help" button, did not check to see if sheets were wet and needed changing each time they came in. Not even a Sponge Bath, and she was there almost a week. Floors in the room were NEVER moped all week. My feet stuck to the floor! She caught Covid there and was dismissed to ICU at Mercy. Very few sanitation precautions. Poor communication with P.A. and with Doctor. I never talked directly to them. In general: A bad experience. If I was not there, there was little to no contact with staff. P.S. the food was good! [name removed], an aid/tech took great care of my sister when she was working, but she had not control over the "big" stuff.

It seems they are very understaffed or just horribly negligent. They do not respond to patient needs or answer their phone. . My family member has been in the ICU due to their negligence, returned to the facility and they are unconcerned. They are unapologetic for their lack of responsiveness and generally uncaring. DO NOT use this facility.

Just want to say that my first time visiting Medical Park West was a great experience. Medical Park West is a nice clean comfortable place, staff was super nice and caring, helpful to me and the residents.Call Light Sytems was off within 1-2 minutes which is misunderstood to some because other residents are being cared for at that time. Which I liked things being done in a timely fashion. My grandparents are happy with this place ! Thanks to all the Medical Park West staff with making grandparents happy !

My mother was transferred here post hip surgery, and the first night she got there, the EMTS drove my mom around on the gurney for like 10 minutes inside the facility lookingfor ANYONE that worked there. This was around 9:30pm so not even graveyard shift. NO ONE- NO ONE came in her room for over and hour to greet her, say hello etc. When someone FINALLY came in, my mother (whom is COMPLETELY oriented) said she was hungry and they told her the kitchen was closed, did not offer anything else but to suggest "having her family come bring her something" (at almost 11pm at night!). They finally got her a leftover corn dog and a cup with TWO strawberries and THAT WAS IT. THEY ALSO DID NOT GIVE HER ANY PAIN MEDS FOR OVER 12 HOURS. Remember, she's only 3 days post hip REPLACEMENT surgery. No pain meds for 12 HOURS. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??! All because "they didn't have any orders from the hospital yet." Which turns out were sent but no one bothered to look very hard for them. They kept trying to give her medications she didn't think she was supposed to take (because she has always know her meds like the back of her hand) and they couldn't even tell her what the medication was for. She'd ask for clarification, they acted clueless, say they'd find out, but then never come back. She liked like 3 of her aides- two were awful. The TV remote fell off the bed and the batteries fell out so she asked this aide if the she could pick up the remote and the batteries for her. The aide handed her the remote and said "she didn't see any batteries" and walked out. My mom is really vulnerable right now and can't get up on her own at all. She was scared to report anything until she left for fear of retaliation. I am a Medical Social Worker and every day I wanted to call this facility in but my mom begged me not to. WAY TO GO ON THE FEW THAT WERE NICE BUT I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! DON'T GO HERE!!!!

Would go 0 stars if I could. My mom just left AMA. Supposed to go in to get her strength back after hospital. Was there a week and had one day of rehab. She slept in her clothes kept same depends on all day. The kicker was they gave her 9 pills at one time and my mom has a disease that limits her ability to swallow and speech therapy says one at a time and they wouldn’t listen to my dad. They could have killed her. Run away fast.

The therapy and therapist here are excellent. The nursing is very understaffed. When the call button is pushed a patient has to wait 30-60 minutes for help. They remove soiled linens but don’t remake beds for over an hour. I would not recommend putting a loved one here.

My Aunt stayed here, they very understaffed. It takes a hour for a response when the patient calls a nurse. I would not recommend this place.

Response from Medical Park West Rehabilitation
June 12, 2019We apologize for your unpleasant experience at our facility. At Medical Park West, we strive to deliver quality care. We are thankful for your feedback as this will help us improve our services.
My mom was only supposed to be in there for only two weeks and they said she wasn't quite ready. Wished we would have taken her out then!! She was worse when she left than when she went in!!! They threatened Medicare might not pay for other medical bills if we went against medical advice. Wished I had gotten a lawyer to ask for for sure :(. Soon as insurance was close to stop paying they discharged her) 77 days of being miserable!! While in there she got fluid A ,pneumonia, C-diff. Told them she would be healthier at home they didn't care. Just wanted insurance I'm sure. We were up there most of the time, imagine if we weren't? Mom was left on the toilet one time for 45 minutes when we wasn't there! The rehab people were good, but she kept getting sick with everything going around the nursing center she couldn't work out.

Day 4... a little better as far as PT and OPT due to one being changed. We even got invited in the room and a little tour...which was obviously because issues were brought up, but we'll take what little changes for the better we can get! However, the overall nursing staff and aides are not good. Excuses for call lights not being answered for 15 minutes, bedding STILL not being changed 4 days in (we did it ourselves). It's sad, scary, disgusting, disturbing and disheartening to think what happens to our loved ones when no one is watching. We have been instructed to go through the chain of command if there are any further issues... and then it's 2pm and we finally go ask why lunch wasn't served to our family member. I am guessing the aide who got mouthy about the light and the bedding was supposed to bring it. Seriously? The chain of command??? How far UP the chain do we need to go to get things changed? I read the MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS- if ONLY! Perhaps the caregivers on ALL levels in this facility need to be reminded of the MISSION. Perhaps they should also truly have to consider: WHAT IF THIS WERE YOUR LOVED ONE? Would you feel secure and confident in leaving them under the staffs supervision and care? If they were truly honest, their response would be a resounding HELL NO! I can't wait for this part of the nightmare to be over. Aging, having a terminal illness, and being away from familiar faces and places is hard enough on the suffering loved one without adding a stay in a place where they are treated like an annoyance. God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I can not change, COURAGE to change the things I CAN, and the WISDOM to know the difference. AMEN.

A Place for Mom has scored Medical Park West Rehabilitation 7.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
