I put in an application and toured Homewood at Plum Creek; the tour was fantastic. They showed me all around the facility, I was able to see the physical therapy room and everything else. I know a lot of people who live in Homewood's cottages, personal care units, and apartments. My brother would need Care Central, which is their highest level of care. It's a beautiful and fantastic facility. When looking for a community I had three criteria's; 1. ability to accommodate my brothers level of care, 2. great food because he's picky and needs to gain weight, and 3. a good location. Homewood is five minutes from my house, and the food is fantastic. They're renovating their quad rooms into doubles with a bathroom; so rather than having 4 bedrooms / 1 bath, it'll be 2 bedrooms / 1 bath. They placed him on the waiting list because that renovation knocked out 8 beds. They still have his application, so if and when they're available, I would consider moving him there because it's so much closer. I also appreciate the fact that if his funds run out they will assist us with filling out Medicare paperwork. What Medicare doesn't cover, their benevolent funds would pick up.
