My mother, who has been in the care of Good Samaritan Healthcare Center in Yakima, WA is approaching the four year mark of her residency there. She originally was in the rehabilitation wing following an hospitalization. It soon became apparent that she would be unable to return to her home and as I live a distance from Yakima, she chose to remain in the Yakima area which had become her home after 90 plus years. There was concern about her placement and her care and the staff at Good Sam worked diligently to "set my mind at ease", assuring me that they would do everything possible to provide the best care for my mother. From the beginning and through the current COVID-19 pandemic, the staff have worked diligently to assure that my mother remained safe and well cared for. When she tested positive for the virus there was obviously concern for her well being. She was moved into an isolated wing of the facility, confined to her own room, and after a period of time developed no symptoms, was retested as negative for the virus and was returned to her familiar room. I want to give a shout out to everyone who has had a role in mom's care, especially to the Social Services Director, [name removed]. From the beginning [name removed]worked diligently to help us as a family negotiate the minutiae of securing Medicaid coverage for mom, getting her placed in the skilled nursing side of the facility, and continuing to remain available to encourage us, as a family, at every intersection of this trying time. Although for a time another social services individual was assigned to mom's case, I have just learned that [name removed] is back as the primary social services provider for mom and our family. I could not be happier, as frankly, I don't know where we would be today without the diligence of this consummate professional. Thank you [name removed] for helping to make what could have been a much more difficult experience so much more doable and gratifying.... Read more

Good Samaritan is the worst nursing home in the valley. They don't care about their clients at all. Everyone in there is inept, and unable to care for anyone but themselves. My grandfather has been in their "care" for about 6 months and his health has done nothing but decline. They stopped doing physical therapy because it's too "risky" with Covid. Now he can't even stand up on his own, or hardly feed himself thanks to their garbage help. If you want your loved one to go in to a nursing home to watch them deteriorate while you're powerless to do anything about it, or watch them put your loved one in their bed like a rag doll, then Good Samaritan is the perfect fit for you and you're loved one.
