Although Gardenview Assisted Living is a small facility, that is actually what drew us to them. Some of the other facilities are just too big and therefore overwhelming for my loved one. Moving my loved one in was very simple. Nothing fancy, but adequate. The staff is friendly. They are very good about communicating with us when we visit, which is pretty much everyday. However, they are frequently short staffed, especially on the weekends. As a result, there have been a couple of occasions where my loved one has been forgotten on her medications. Also because of the short staffing, there have been a few weeks where my loved one's room was not cleaned. Communication with the family is good when we initiate it. The current Director is managing two facilities however, which makes her sometimes hard to reach. Hopefully that will be a short lived situation. I am impressed with the meals as there is a fair amount of thought put into them as well as variety. And even if my loved one doesn't like what they are serving, the staff is willing to make a sandwich or some other substitution for her. They also will accommodate her if she decides that she would prefer to stay in her room to eat, as opposed to the dining room. About half of the other residents stay in their rooms, but those who do socialize are very friendly. They kind of look out for each other. Also, my loved one needed her physical therapy to continue when she moved into Gardenview from her rehab facility which is next door. The therapy department was able to continue that on an outpatient basis for her and actually came over to pick her up from Gardenview for her sessions. That was a huge part of our decision to move to Gardenview Assisted Living!... Read more

They do not have a ton of activities going on right now just given the circumstances with covid, but they do have bingo a couple times a week that helps get our loved one out and about. She does love sitting out by the fireplace and read her book and when the weather was nice they would go on extra walks during the week which she appreciated. The PT therapist has been super nice and helpful. The meals overall are pretty good, but they do serve homemade desserts with every meal - we think they could maybe just do that for one meal.

My mom has lived here many years and always treated with dignity and respect. She has memory issues. She's well taken care of.

My sister-in-law lived there for over 6 years. She had dementia and couldn't talk anymore. The staff went over and above to make her happy.

Dirty. Poor staffing. The manager does not get involved with residents issues.

A Place for Mom has scored Gardenview Assisted Living 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
