My sister has Parkinson's and dementia. She has been at Blue Spruce for over 2 years. The home is family run by 3 generations, with excellent, carefully hired staff and a part time nurse. Everyone is very dedicated, loving and puts their whole hearts into their work. My sister gets a daily bed bath. Her medical needs are managed extremely well. She is surrounded by pets, kids and flowers. She gets to sit outside in warm weather. Over the years I have toured many elder care facilities. I had my sister in 4 facilities in another state, including a nursing home and 3 assisted living memory care units. Blue Spruce is by far the best. Top-notch! It is a home, not an institution. It is sparking clean and has homemade food. I do not understand the criticism in the other review. The rooms are bigger than nursing home rooms. The price is fair. Blue Spruce welcomed my sister with open arms, making her feel at home and giving her a miracle, a happy period during the end stage of her diseases.... Read more

This is a really small community and someones home. The room is really small. They also have very little for the residents to do except to sit in there room. The food also was nothing special. They also were a lot more expensive than anywhere else.

A Place for Mom has scored Blue Spruce Home-The Retired 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
