Beacon Shores has been renamed to The Citadel. Beware! It will take more than a name change for this place. My mother ended up in the Sentara ER during the ownership change. Excuses! Excuses! from the female administrator. Medicaid beds are hard to find in nursing homes. Memory Care is even more difficult to locate. The Citadel/Beacon Shores markets memory care. Beware! I filed two reports with the State regarding cleanliness(roaches), lack of nurse training, apathy on part of staff(lots of cell phone usage and blocking doors by sitting in chair ), lack of activities, other than patients go to another area for "movie time" or coloring in "Dollar Store coloring books". Do not use the laundry facility. Take your family member's clothing home to wash and bring back, even then you will find lost items or something that belongs to someone else. Food-subpar! Beware! NO Stars.
