Both of my parents were placed here before I really knew what to look for in a facility, what questions to ask, and just how nursing facilities worked in general. Unfortunately for my parents, it took me 7 months to realize what was going on and get them out of there. While there were a number of staff members who were absolute angels, there were too many on the opposite end, including most of the administrative staff. If you find something going wrong, report it, but be prepared when you do. There were inconsistencies and errors in the distribution of medication, medical care, therapy, and care in general. The foodservice was hit and miss. Sometimes great, sometimes awful. The building is an old building and was in poor repair, with gaps around the heating/air conditioning system in the room which allowed hot/cold air in and well as bugs. The bathrooms are cramped and the courtyard is small. The rooms are also cramped with very little space for visitors. If you are looking to place someone, I highly recommend a tour first, pay close attention to the surroundings, look for their ratings which should be posted, ask questions, and ask to see the book containing information the state provides based on their visits to the facility. The location is good, with access to shops and restaurants. Quick access to downtown Charlotte, the hospitals and a variety of medical specialists. The activities director at that time did provide a good variety of activities for residents.

This is a hospital type room, and a hospital environment. They are attentive and have been really good to her. They are clean and it doesn't smell bad. There isn't a good private place to sit and visit, or an extra chair in the room.
